I absolutely tear up every time I hear this song, but to hear the Home Free version, to see the video, and to see your emotional response made me cry. I’m so sorry for the loss of your brother. My uncle died almost 10 years ago, and my mom says she still sometimes expects him to open up her back door and say, “Hey Sis. Got any coffee ready?” ❤️❤️❤️

Im sorry for the loss of your brother. As a US Veteran, this song brings up so many emotions, remembering all the brothers I lost. To me this version is therapeutic, and I can finally let my emotions out. I understand what you are saying completely.

I know saying thank you for your service isn't enough. Just know that even after your service is done there are still many people in this country that want your life to continue and be apart of this world. Idk, I feel like vets need to hear that sometimes because of how they have been treated.

Vince Gill originally started to wrote this for Keith Whitley, and finished it for his brother who died in the early 1990s. I tear up every time I hear it. If this song, in whatever rendition you hear, doesn't make you at least tear up, you have no heart.

Home Free sure knows how to rip your heart out, emotionally. This was so beautifully sung, but so chilling at the same time. I like that little break in the song they did, by adding Amazing Grace in the middle. So fitting for this video. Thanks, Pat.

I am writing this with a tear stained face because of their heavenly voices, the video, and just as important, your heartfelt emotional reaction. Thank-you and may you find peace and comfort in your memories. This video makes me appreciate my dad who has since passed away, who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars even more. He too is buried in a National Cemetery as seen in the video. Again, thank-you and please everyone be safe.

It’s always tough getting through this video without tearing up. Anyone who has suffered a loss would struggle with hearing this one. I lost my brother when I was 22 and he was 28 over 40 years ago. This one gets me. Home Free did this one at a Church Session over a year ago, and decided to release an official video. It was worth the wait. I totally relate to your emotion with this song. Home Free ups their game with every album they release. I’m excited, too. Love your honest reaction. Take care and be safe!

The first time I heard it years ago it was Vince Gill's hauntingly beautiful voice singing it and I had just lost my daddy to a very long struggle with lung disease and, I completely lost it. So, every time I hear this song I think of him and the fact that he is resting high on that mountain, free from the pain.

Some gave all......all gave some.......Semper Fi, my Brothers.....till we meet again. My Great-Uncle, 1LT Keith George, survived the Baatan Death March, taken prisoner by the Japanese, the ship was sunk by an American Submarine. Years later, his canteen was found washed up on a South China Sea beach. Imagine, having a funeral service, without a body. This is emotional for me because I never got to meet him and I was given his name for my middle name. But, we will meet again, soon.

You are absolutely right, mah friend. Get those out. I'm a wreck listening to the original of this, but somehow with Home Free, it lets me get emotion out in a much happier way. Yea I do shed a few tears, but they just make me feel so connected to those memories. Every song/cover from them that I look at and think, oh lord, this is gonna hit me hard, they have their way of singing it where they seem to say 'It's gonna be alright.' I have literally felt it embrace me before. Very surreal

Thank you for your heartfelt reaction to this - as you say, it's such a beautiful song. It will be very interesting to see what comes next for the guys - for the moment at least they are all at home, and trying to get the tech sorted so they can record from there. In the meantime, I hope you'll look back at some of their older songs - their live version of Castle on the Hill, with Tim explaining how they use live looping on stage or Don't It Feel Good, which they never filmed a video for, but there are lots of concert versions.

Sometimes our hearts are locked up so tight to bury the pain and it takes a song like this to open the floodgates. Seeing how profoundly you were affected did just that for me. There are other ways of death besides the end of a life. My youngest sister has been in a long term care facility with dementia. Every now and then I catch a glimpse of the beautiful soul that she is and for that I am grateful. I am very sorry to hear that you lost your brother. OH DAMN ; !!! Where did this come from ??? 😢😢💔💔 How have I never seen this video or heard of this group before ? Don't get me wrong Vince Gill's song is phenomenal , for years and years it's been played at my family's funerals. It is a sad but it's a healing song too. But the other group singing acapella and the video being about military just breaks my heart. BUT the video that these gentlemen did for the military OMG!!!!! THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Out of a family where I had 10 aunts and uncles, ( I only have one Aunt left 😢😢 ) at one time I had so many cousins we gave up trying to count all of us. We had all branches of the military running in my family. My brother was 20 years older than me and was in the Marine corps ( Semper Fi ) my daddy died when I was 8 years old so it was just me and my Mama. I didn't get to see my brother much in my early years so, him being older when I did see him it was more like seeing an uncle or something. When I was in the third grade on my way to school I found my dog dead in the middle of the road. Brokenhearted I was sitting on the side of the road crying my eyes out when this young man who was a junior in high school. Tried to comfort me and picked up my dog and help me take him back home. When we got to my house and he found out it was just me and my mama and my brother being a Marine was mainly gone a lot, God love us he took us under his wing. He felt obligated because he intended after graduating becoming a red ranger in the army. This sweet dear boy became like a second brother to me and always came over to see if Mama needed any help around the house fixing anything or whatever. After he graduated he went into the army did become a ranger and keep in touch with us through letters while he was over in Vietnam. Unfortunately after 2 years over half of his platoon was blown up while they were giving some candy to some of the Vietnamese children. My dear sweet Spirit brother came home with 16 fragments of motor shell in his head. He already was suffering from PSTD, and survivor's guilt . BUT what really pissed me off was the very people that called herself free love, flower children and all that SHIT ; had the balls to spit at him, call him a murderer, and a baby killer simply because he served his country !!!!!!!!!!!! ALL Veterans that serve in any war comes home without side scars and God knows deep deep emotional scars. THIS video got to me because it honors our fallen soldiers....💔💔💔💔. People ~ PLEASE ~. HONOR ALL OF OUR VETERANS those that have passed on AND are living VETS. Yes times are troubled, and there is a lot of bad and wrong things being done.BUT we live in a country thanks to ALL VETERANS were we have the freedom to have or maybe even buy our own house, we have the freedom to speak out against Injustice, WE have the FREEDOM to LIVE our life without being told that you can only work a certain kind of a job, live only one way, and only be able to live with your family where the government tells you you can. American Veterans have fought and died to protect us and keep us safe from all outside hostel countries. I'm sorry I digress, it's just that with a lot of the country it's not "" COOL ""to raise the American flag or to sing The Star spangled banner or say the pledge of allegiance much less to honor the men and the women that have served this country. God bless you for showing this video son. This old southern woman really appreciates this and I loved just really loved your reaction to this video❤❤❤ May GOD BLESS and keep you and yours safe from harm. Much love sent your way. And never be ashamed to show your feelings.
