Based on the live version and Tim mentioning that Jeffrey (the other writer) doesn't think about breath, the first breath comes after "in a world where anything goes". Which is is a long time to go through. And yes, remember that from choir

I had the pleasure of seeing this performed live at Tims Birthday Bash in Nashville this year and he joked about the wordyness of the song and having no time to breathe. It was great!

JEN, yes do react to "Cover Me up" you'll be so proud of Chance...he makes some awesome runs & riffs...and the song (a cover of Jason Isbell) is so pretty...and in the video - YOU MUST WATCH PAST THE MUSIC....it's very important !!!! Very special video for Chance too...he picked that song and he scripted the video & he also directed it as well ( not sure about the editing but I would think he's involved) also it's a quarantine video, and Chance's part was filmed on the outskirts of Los Angeles...I believe in the desert east of LA in the Imperial Valley.

Another great original by Tim Foust and Jeffrey East. Tim seems to know how each of their voices will fit in a song. Once you get into Christmas season, Snow Globe also written by Tim has a part for each specific voice.

These guys are the BEST acapella band out there bar none. Every single one of them can sing like no other. They are so versatile in what they can sing. And the best voices I've ever heard.. Rob's voice is just phenomenal!. They all are.

So much talent all wrapped up in one package!!! Jen, I know you react to other artists but you and Home Free are a perfect fit. They should always say " ft. Jen". I actually watch your reaction to them before I listen to the original. I love your analysis and your natural humor is the icing on the cake. Your scrunched up face on the thumbnail is the absolute BEST clickbait. My brain went through the following thoughts within milliseconds of seeing it. "WTF?! ", "NO! She can't be serious!", "Of course she's not serious. I know better than that." followed by hearty laughter. Woke me faster than a mug of coffee, thank you very much. And, of course I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction and analysis as always. As for this song and album, I am hoping that this is their radio break through. Every song is radio friendly and still an exquisite showcase of their talent and skill. Maybe us Home Fries should start spamming the CMAs to get HF an appearance. They deserve all of the success that comes their way. And, with the Oak Ridge Boys as mentors, they'll be able to avoid the pitfalls as they come up.

I am 1 of those that buy it the minute they say that have a new album coming out. I do watch what they post, but I wait for the a CD to get to me before I listen to the whole thing. As always, I buy 2. 1 I have them sign & 1 that I play. It's the best I can do to help them.

'Cover Me Up' is lovely, but my favorite Chance leads are 'I Can't Outrun You' (with HF), 'Wayfaring Stranger' (with Fox and Hound), and his solo 'Drivers License'. You'll love them all :)

This was filmed by Jimmy Bates at a small airport in Oregon. Jimmy has been involved with many HF videos both on his own and formerly with The Hound and The Fox through their production company Fifgen.

Filmed at the Prineville airport, which is in the Oregon high desert about three hours from Portland. Bet those southern boys were cold! In the BTS, we only saw Jimmy, Chance's wife Sami, and the guys. No one to do hair, makeup, or iron those flight suits.

Yes I'm going to ramble on. These guys have The most perfect harmonies I've ever heard. I know we do like Pentatonix and voice play, but home free takes the cake. You just have to listen to the harmonies, and these guys were just perfect with it.

Another great original song. Love when they all take turns in singing a verse. Adam once again blows me away with his fabulous vocal percussion. And how cool do the guys look in their uniforms & shades walking out of the airplane hanger. Reminds me of a mixture of "Top Gun" & "The Right Stuff". Another winner!

Another great Chance lead song is "I Can't Outrun You" originally by Trace Adkins. He had a lot of the creative vision for the song and the video which is incredible. The song is silky, smoky and the video is inventive all just like Chance!

As expected: Amazing!!!! Great that everyone has the lead in a part of the song. Here too you can hear so well how important the harmonies and backgrounds vocals/sound is in a song. And of course the inhuman vocal percussion. Only there is one problem. It's too short! They are wearing awesome suits. The video is simple, but so cool It's already in my favorite playlist among so many other songs from Home Free!!

Jennifer! Late again. I've come down with something and am a bit under the weather and short on sleep. But I'm here! Yes, 14:41, at least one of us will notice the black fingernails! 😂But what is up with that one cheeky rogue nail on the right hand middle finger? 🤔 This was a more happy cheerful song with the crisp harmonies. No real chances to practice low notes. This one was right in Home Free's stylistic wheelhouse and they did a great job. Interesting choice of settings, an airport, no? Great reaction/analysis as always Jennifer. 😊

Home Free, and David Phelps(!!!!) are masters at breath control. Love your analysis! Helps me appreciate all the different aspects of musical performances. I'm a Home Frie and also a Phelps Phan! ( I sent a message telling you a little about his excellent background ). I tried to send a link to David's cover of 'I Have Nothing' (Whitney Houston), but it didn't connect 🤔. I love music, but am the opposite of musical (it's really bad). But God blessed me with an appreciation for sound, be it vocal, instrumental, movie soundtrack or sound effects. Unfortunately nobody I know has this reaction to sound. So thank you for sharing your HF reactions with us. It is so fulfilling watching your enjoyment of every little aspect of a HF performance (that mirrors mine so accurately). HF is just so GOOD!

Tim Is know for having a large set of….. lungs. Their live performances confirm that. Not saying he didn’t take a breath during the first verse, but I wouldn’t be shocked. But as you say, can do anything with the studio version.

Great reaction! I cracked up when you giggled at Tim's Ba Dum! I can't help but laugh when I hear his Ba Dums throughout a song. It makes the song sound great, but it's still funny to me. Our boys came through for us once again. Always think "how are they going to top this song/video" and they always deliver.

I love Home Free and how you break down their vocal dynamics. Please consider doing a reaction to the female a cappella group Starling Arrow. The group was formed from 5 already awesome vocalists. Their two current releases are Wild Sweet and Into the River (to my ear the more complex of the two).

By the principals of quantum mechanics and special relativity, all of time, past, present and future, is happening right now. This means that the past in not necessarily fixed. It is entirely possible for someone in the past who had a direct and meaningful impact on history to simply change their mind. We would never know.

If you get a chance to listen to this again, check something that I think you may have missed. A couple places where you described Rob leaving the ah vowel open on words like my, I thought I heard something that Rob is very good at. A lot of singers will turn the diphthong way early on those types of vowels, but Rob is very, very good at holding the target vowel open and turning the diphthong right at the end, as he connects the word into the following word. It can be subtle, but it actually makes the word more understandable for the listener, even when they don't consciously hear it.

Chance has done some really nice work with a duo called The Hound + The Fox. It would be difficult to pick just one that they've done together but I think a good representative sample that most would be familiar with is "Wayfaring Stranger", found here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqhkhrx20t2mnmw.html. "A Whistling Lad" is also very good, found here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jqmdfd2lq8q5fYE.html. I don't think you have ever done The Hound + The Fox and they are very talented in the folk arena, mostly. I'm actually getting to prefer A capella over musical instruments and I play a few instruments myself Tim and Chance are the best at rhythm bass guitar sounds..! Those two and Adam make enough backup that I forget it's voice only.!
