Home made steam room using wallpaper steamers and a plastic shed!
very hot, very cheap and easy to maintain.
UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2021:
Since this video was uploaded, I have put silicone around the roof / wall joints. now I only need 1x steamer for it to reach comfortable steam room temperature.
Measured temperatures
1 steamer - 50°C
2 steamers - 57°C+ (I couldn't stand the heat so only measured up to 57 but I estimate it would reach 60-62°C. I only use 2 steamers for cleaning clothes.

Inspired by this, I found an almost new secondhand enclosed massage shower cubicle for £100, which after a little bit of effort to better seal the doors works a treat. I also added bubble wrap insulation to the sides and solid insulation to the top. Like you i use a wallpaper stripper steamer, but i only have the one. After 40 minutes it's at a good temperature and full of steam. I also am able to use the shower aspect of it. Really enjoy it. Thanks for the idea.

Absolute legend. I had this idea myself yesterday. I thought someone must have done this before. Very well done mate, cheers I just bought a halfords "bike tent" today (£35) to test the theory before I thought of checking youtube . Hi Jake, just wondering did the halford bike tent work?.
@jakecraddock2575
@jakecraddock2575 2 жыл бұрын
@@tough2lie382 hi there mate. I've got to say in terms of the money I spent vs the experience, it way surpassed my expectations. The halfords tents was £35 (awesome for the money) and I found a metal frame reclining garden chair with polyester fabric (just the right size) on facebook families for £10. I'm a painter and decorator so I already have a pro steamer (earlex steam master). The tent has a back "pocket" to feed the pipe through, and a pretty well thought out zipped front flap which allows me access to the steamer switch if I need it in a hurry. I dangle a LED torch from the hook inside at the top. The tent is steam heat ready in just a few minutes (after steamer gets up to steam), and (obviously this is all done outside) though a smidge awkward to get in, zipped up and the steamer pipe not pointing at my legs.......I am to tolerate it for about 20 minutes or so, which is about my limit in a regular gym type steam room before I'm done. I also shake some eucalyptus essential oil about the place. Upsides - just the same buzz you get from a gym steam room / super convenient. Downsides - I must wear pants in case the neighbours see me getting in and out / a smidge fiddly to get in and comfy (not tons of room), but once you're in and set-up you're golden, . Clearly it's not as good a set up as the OP's "shed". But in terms of a satisfactory steam session, it's mega. Oh yeah....one last downside, as it's a tent, the water / condensation builds up in the bottom and doesn't flow away. But the tent is light with a massive door so you can just shake it out and it air dries sweet enough. Hope that helps. PEACE!

Love this and would do it myself but it's too damned cold in the garden this time of the year so I'm going to buy a cheap shower tent (the type with fibreglass poles on elastic and less than £30 from a catalogue store). I figure it will fit inside the shower enclosure in one bathroom and I'll be able to sit in a garden chair to steam myself. With four additional loops sewn into the seams, allowing for the bottom of the poles to be held securely out of the way I'll be able to let the bottom of the fabric drape into the bathtub in the other bathroom where I'll use my bath bench to sit nice and snug in my birthday suit thereby not upsetting the neighbours!

@philyoung1468

You could potentially put it in a garage if you silicone it well and completely seal it off. You will need to make some kind of vent which you can manually open and close, so before you get out and after you're finished, you would open the vent and allow all the steam to escape into the open air rather than into your garage. Hope that helps.

Fair play mate just had my aliexpress steam generator start leaking and break. Had just ordered another one angrily. Then saw this and went straight out and bought one, (no 4 weeks wait) Works perfectly. However realised cleaning them might be an issue as small hole and fully sealed. Mentions limescale to be done every so often. But am also concerned with mould (guessing it’s a distinctive smell) maybe use vinegar. Curious if you have had to clean them. Was concerned with them being plastic and boiling and then inhaling the steam, but might consider getting a tin foil hat next if that’s a silly question

I've not had to clean them. 1 failed and I had to buy another but that's it.

@@philyoung1468 Noticed you have no concern of the containers boiling in plastic, is it the type of plastic, curious on your reasoning. If they were designed for food I would be less concerned, but they are not so a little concerned

@Phil Young thanks for replying. Just if it's rusting, maintenance and would you do anything different to make it better?

@@tjm1015 it doesn't really require any maintenance and there's no metal that can rust inside. I don't do anything beyond the bi-annual jet wash.

also the water boils in plastic containers full of carciongens could be very toxic maybe phil can report back in a few years. if you could some how remove the steamer elements and hard wiring and put in a stainless steel container and run copper pipes from it and get some nice marble or cheap stone that would be some project .
