I have been looking at hydraulic drive systems. I have not been able to confirm the power of them and thus the speed you could get from the unit. You are very right, it's all a great learning curve. I am using the dual brake/differential configuration but it's not necessarily the the best way either. I do notice the RPM's are quite high, presumably to get enough pump pressure to move the unit. Great job!

The Christie drive and suspension system may be 80 years old but every successful tracked fighting machine has this system at the heart of its off road capability.

Muy espectacular pero una cosa tan simple como un retrovisor no le hubiese ido mal.

something takes over you when you drive a tank... you just want to run into a car, tear up the landscape and then narrowly miss an elderly spectator running for his life!

You can see in the video if you pause it just after the vehicle drives off the pallets that the steering is done by hydraulic motors as you can see the small hydraulic pump with pipes coming off it which is obviously bolted to the motor which is the way that most modern excavators use for drive nowhere days it's good and smooth and a bit less complicated than having loads of belts and pulleys to create the drive but maybe more expensive to actually buy for a project like this plus you will have a big mess if a pipe bursts or hydraulic motor seals go each way has its pros and cons but I don't like to knock anyone's projects as it's all a learning curve. It's a thumps up from me I think it's a great looking and performing machine well done to those that have built it

That is Awesome! Now if they could make one that doesn't cost 10plus Grand ,so someone who needs on like myself being a paraplegic could actually afford to buy it, that would be great.

Old post know but buy an old zero turn hydrostatic drive mower and ditch the cutting deck. Little bit of fab work for track carriers and drive for the tracks and youre off. I would use snowmobile tracks and the drive sprocket off the sleds as well. My brother in law is a quad and I've put him in my Argo 8x8, seat belted him in and he had just enough movement in his shoulders and elbows he was able to drive it. Can pick them up fairly reasonably as well Good luck with whatever you chose.

The biggest thing that people have problems with is the design of the power takeoff. Can you show how that you allowed for controls from one motor, to the individual tracks.. What kind of system is it? Gears? Chains? .. More pictures or video explaining that system, the better.. thanks.

i dont know how he did it, but id use a simple clutch brake system, Where for example when you pull back the right lever the right track is de-clutched, and if you pull further back the right track, the right track applies brakes, Whilst the left track keeps spinning. thus turning,

i dont understand this, still not as good as a quad
@tubbz6918 жыл бұрын
+Yo ski Actually it can be better than a quad id a couple ways. It had way more traction for one. In snow it spreads the load out so it stas on top of the snow like a snowmobile. And in mud the same benefits apply, more traction, doesnt sink to the bottom. Also this probably can haul more than your quad and is way more stable on hills.
