Today I will compare two mics in a home recording setting, the classic Shure SM57 vs the new Behringer SL75C. Both are reasonably priced with the SM57 at $99 and the SL75C at $25.
I start with a Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster going into a Ditto Looper, then into a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 25 set on the clean channel going into a 2x10 cab. I mic the speaker 1" from the grill cloth where the cone meets the dust cap. I record each speaker, a Celestion Creamback and Eminence Legend, as you will see in the photos. I will then play a Reverend Contender 290 (P-90 pickups) into the drive channel of the Fillmore.
I tried to keep it as consistent as possible by recording through a looper, leaving all the settings on the amp and interface untouched, and no sound editing or plugin use on Logic Pro.
