It's been 3 months since we purchased our 110-year-old home in Texas and we are finally through the demo stage of renovation. This week I had meetings for kitchen appliances and plumbing for the kitchen and bathrooms ... AND TILE! I'm sharing how much our DREAM Kitchen and Bathroom items will cost and where we might explore alternatives.

I love how transparent you are in every step of this process. Many creators show reno but won't discuss prices or the process of making decisions along the way. This is so comprehensive and informative yet incredibly entertaining.

$30K for 2 bathrooms and an ENTIRE kitchen is absurdly low budget, considering the higher end options. But, I appreciate so much that MaCenna understands that this is not accessible to everyone and that $30K is still a lot of money. 💛

I did mine for a whole lot less cost. I did not go w high end appliances. Bathroom tiles were a closeout special, saved $$$. Stripped and painted kitchen cabinets, splurged on the counter tops.

I don't think there is any cabinetry in that. They were nearly theist expensive thing when I did my very basic kitchen nearly 11 years ago. The only thing I splurged on were lots of drawers instead of cupboards as I am older. I am just amazed at the refrigerators, stoves etc available. I'm sure similar are available in the capital cities in Australia but not where I am. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

@@blehmeh2566 Determine your budget. Buy a house with a good roof and no mold. Make a list of the work you can do (demo? Paint? Refinishing wood floors?) Learn what you don't know (cut and install tile, install windows, strip paint off of existing doors, basic plumbing), pick up tools at garage sales, flea markets. Contractors donate construction materials to Habitat for Humanity and you can find deals. Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity when they are building a house, they always need help and you will learn.

You have great taste and I am really enjoying watching your progress. One comment I would have is that you might want to consider putting in a shower instead of a tub in the guest bathroom. You never know when you will have guests that would have difficulty getting in and out of a tub - it's just safer for guests. Just a thought.

Run a channel of PCV or conduit in EVERY room to EVERY outlet❗ However wiring or computer related connections change in the future, all you have to do is pull it through the PVC. So make it "roomy" enough❗👍😉

I like the fact that you have your vision board for the kitchen and bathrooms to keep you on track and budget. When I was remodeling my home and picking out tile and carpeting at that time, the contractor told me when you find something that you like: STOP. He said that you can drive yourself crazy trying to make tile decisions etc.

My husband and I bought our first home about 3 years ago. Its a 1963 ranch style fixer upper. So far we have renovated 2 of the 3 bedrooms, the main bathroom, living room, office, and are currently working on the kitchen. Its our biggest project so far but I'm loving how its coming along. We torn it basically down to the studs and have finished the ceiling, floors, countertops, plumbing, and are finishing up the cabinet doors, which are much harder than I expected to make. We still have to finish the island, add a window, and build out the bench and storage next to the back door. Then its just finishing touches! Living through a reno of that size is tough, I'm glad you guys are able to stay with your parents and will have the guest cabin to stay in. Good luck with you cottage! I've been loving seeing your process so far!

We just finished a 2 year renovation on our cottage in the middle of 30 acres and it was a long, wonderful process. We have similar taste in so many things. I'm so glad that we bit the bullet and went with "what we wanted" and made the budget work. Those are my favorite things about the house. For instance, "my pool", as my husband calls it, (the rather large stand alone tub), I fought for...I use it and love it every single day (to include the beautiful be-jewels - faucets, tiles, cabinets, as well). One recommendation my cabinet guy made for me was the microwave drawer in the kitchen. LOVE IT. Check it out. I'm so enjoying your process. Keep up the great work and thank you for taking us on this journey with you.

Hi, when we moved into our bungalow 3 years ago we had a long list of things we needed to do. We finally completed our first list, the major things, like gardens, kitchen, bathroom etc. Now we are on the the 2nd list, the more cosmetic things. It takes time and it does come with a price tag. We were very foolish when we first married at 18, and it took a long time to get ourselves back on track. We managed to buy the bungalow, so we’re mortgage free. And everything we have done in the last three years we have saved for. So I get how you are so meticulous with list making, and doing as much of the work yourselves. This was a great video, thank you so much for sharing xxx

I am so excited for you and am enjoying watching the whole project. We bought a lake home last summer that we retire too and had renovations done over the winter. Two bathrooms and converted a 3 season sunroom to fully installed four season room (we live in Canada). The original space was large enough to make 1/3 into a mud/laundry room area with a wall to separate the sun/entertainment room. We also updated our heat/cooling system which was costly but important. The home is a work in progress, with plenty of DIY projects planned. You have inspired me (and your parents too) to do more projects ourselves...😊💕

It’s because she (and Romeo and her parents) are doing the labor. Makes a huge difference in cost. And it doesn’t hurt to have a mother and father with the equipment and know-how to guide her. I’m impressed with how willing she is to do hours of hard dirty work. And her mother often helps her! Such a lovely family.

These videos make me so excited to have my own house someday and go through the process of renovating it. I'm currently doing this in my apartment and loving it. It can be stressful and overwhelming at times but it's so worth it and exciting. Thank you for these videos, I cant wait for the next one.
