Pour a drink, pull up a chair, and enjoy part 2 of my journey home to North Uist on 20th March. It's an absolutely stunning scenic drive in Scotland - probably the most scenic drive in Scotland.
In this video we leave Strathclyde Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Site, and take the M74 through Glasgow and over the Erskine Bridge.
Normally I would always advise against taking a caravan or larger motorhome along the A82 up the side of Loch Lomond between Tarbet and Crianlarich, but as traffic was fairly light and my vintage caravan fairly narrow, I thought I would take a risk. It wasn't too bad on this occasion.
Then we have the STUNNING drive through across Rannoch Moor and Glen Coe to Fort William, where the lovely Kenny had picked up some essential groceries from me.
We carry on along the A82 and A87, through Spean Bridge and Inverary, and alongside Loch Cluanie and Loch Ailse. A pause at Kyle of Lochalsh before crossing the Skye Bridge onto the Isle of Skye. Then it's a smooth drive, past The Cuillin, to Uig and the Calmac ferry from Uig to Lochmaddy in North Uist.
I hope you enjoy the journey!
PLEASE NOTE THIS JOURNEY HOME WAS UNDERTAKEN BEFORE THE 'LOCKDOWN' ANNOUNCED ON 23RD MARCH.
Normally I would make a vlog a little shorter and 'tighter', but as I was editing this (during 'lockdown') I was missing the simple pleasures of towing my caravan along Scottish Roads. Therefore I have left this video to be 'slower' and more relaxed and include a little more detail than normal.

From a tired soldier I am so glad we have been forgotten about consistently and been denied pay increases for years, gotten less discount than students and NHS and will be bottom of the pile as per usual when all this ends... Thats not an attack on NHS workers just stating the truth. It was also fab to be told I wasn't a key worker by B&Q staff yesterday. Fml.

That was absolutely stunning Andrew, I must admit to being a little tearful 😢 by the time you got to Morvich , it took me back to September and I knew every turn coming up along the the road. The beautiful scenery with the snow clad mountains is majestic. I will go up to bed and replay it again and dream of my next trip to wonderland. Thank you for taking time to do this and to give so much pleasure to all your friends, especially when we are missing our road trips . Lots of love 💕 dearest Dougal 🐶 your are a true star 🌟 Wishing you both a wonderful life in your highland hame 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What a beautiful trip you showed us. Thank you very much! A lot of views reminds us of Sweden and Norway, Norway for us till now the most beautiful country we visited and till covid 19 arrived our destination next june and july. We would like to follow your footsteps in Scotland and we hope we will in the short future, but now we have a second barrier, covid 19, next to the brexit that is still giving us the negative feeling not to be welcome on your island coming from the continent. (I know many, and maybe a majority in Britain and for sure in Scotland, is positive about Europeans from the continent, but it feels the other way..) But we keep up the good spirit witch means we will make this trip as soon as possible!! Stay healthy!

Definitely missing the long road trip right now... nothing more relaxing than the feel of the wheel in your hands and a great trip soundtrack to watch the gorgeous vistas go by. I'm going to have to make a Cambridge to Stirling and back run when we are can travel again. Thanks for bringing us along on this fantastic road trip, even that stressful narrow part!

Loved every second of this video Andrew, it was like a trip down memory lane and found my self moving along to the great music. You definitely look like you were buzzing in Uig after that stunning drive. Hope you managed to get your veges planted and have enjoyed the r&r.

Glorious drive. Not been North of the bauders for 10 years and then I went up to friends in Bridge of Allan and on up beyond Aberdeen in the Eastern Highlands. Love the West Coast and Mull but not been onto Sky. The Bridge was not there the last time I went West but will be up that way as soon as circumstances allow. Thanks so much for taking me with you in spirit. As you say a glorious Journey on a fabulous day. Hope all is well with you and look forward to more content as and when you are able. Stay Safe and well. PS the Loch Lomond road has improved so much since the last time I drove that way.

Andrew that was pure joy. We took the same route in the Adria we hired just after your orange version last June/July. Seeing the route in similar conditions to us made the hairs on my neck prickle.... There really is something indescribable about the Highlands/Islands that brings pure joy to the soul. Thank you thank you for Sharing this masterpiece. Xx

Thank you Andrew for taking us on your journey home. I miss Scotland as it’s been many years since I’ve been there. I have recently bought a camper van and planned to go there with my little dog Coco but that of cause will have to wait. Safe journey and stay healthy.
