Hello! I've tried this for more than 5 times but everytime something or the other goes wrong and it tastes raw or the pan starts burning which leaves a black residue or the potato becomes overboiled in the water and becomes like clay... What do i do?

You should keep it in low flame. Avoid adding water, it may take a few extra minutes to cook.
