Really enjoyable video. Great looking flake and you're right there is far too much 'science' talk spoken about growing and processing your own tobacco. I'll give your plastic bag fermenting idea a go with the first batch of leaves I've just cured.

I started growing my own in Massachusetts this past year, four varieties, two Burley and two Virginia. I had zero experience. I bought seed on eBay from a farm in Kentucky. I over-planted because I had no idea how easily these plants take hold and, as you say, basically grow themselves. I ended up weeding out 90% of my baby plants because I had no room for them all. The sand-like seed has about a 95% viability rate, like grass. You have to plant them with soft tweezers so you only drop one or two at a time in the peat starter pods. I transferred them into small plastic pots, which they quickly outgrew. By the end of the season, the plants I ended up with were healthy but small and not quite fit for harvest, so I just kept the new seed (got a TON of seed). I have already mapped out next year's crop. Bigger, better pots, suitable soil, proper bamboo sticks, much simpler fertilizers. Your video has encouraged me greatly! Thanks! =^-.-^=

hi, quick question, can u use Bailey's in the fermentation process? or does the milk in it causes the tobacco to mold?
@glenharland52874 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I got the same setup as you with an identical press. How did you sort out the press releasing by itself? I was thinking about using pliers or something to tighten the chuck but I don't want to wreck it. Or maybe too much pressure? Do you think the pressure needs to be moderate to begin with and increased a little each day? *UPDATE* BRAND NEW PRESS HAD TOO MUCH HYDRAULIC FLUID AND WAS FULL OF AIR. GO FIGURE.

@@TheSeb12345 I think my seed was not the best choice For pipetobacco.(virginia gold). But the best advice I can give you, is to go to "Fair trade tobacco" forum. A lot od great info there.

@@franjosiranovic9489 I have already a account there and plan to build my own kiln ^^ Oh most likley my virginia will be also virginia gold because its hard to get other virginia seeds here in germany. Did you flue cure it or air cured it ?
@franjosiranovic94893 жыл бұрын
@@TheSeb12345 I air cured it. I should make a Kiln too but with my pipemaking I just can't make the time For it. I red Virginia Helena is good for pipetobacco. Try Google it, maby there is a shop in Germany that has it.

@@franjosiranovic9489 Thanks for the recommendation its even aviable here in germany at one shop. Its interesting how many variants there are and this dosent help sometimes. I want to also grow 2 cigar sorts so i definitly need a kiln. The good thing is that i can use it also a flue cure kiln for the virginias. If the weather is right i maybe try sun curing. Pipe making is also an interesting hobby. I read also quiet a bit about it and i would love to make a similiar pipe to the Lord of the Rings Gimli Pipe, but this will also not happen anytime soone :D Firstly i will try to make some good virginia flakes + i also want to grow burley and 3 orientals and have some cigar leaf to roll.

Hey Brother, really enjoyed that mate. You Kiwi boys are lucky being able to grow you own. We'd get into a lot of trouble here in Australia. We've got to be creative to get pipe tobacco here we can afford. Anyways, I've subbed you dude. Yep, hang loose. Regards, Kevin.

Aussie Bulldog hey Kev, its not legal there ?? I believe we are allowed to grow up to 15 kg a year which is heaps lol. That being said They clamping down left right and centre in regards to ALL tobacco, and suppose to be smokefree hereby 2025 but i know we are not on track for that. Thanks for watching and all the best. Subbed back bud

Do you inhale the smoke when using a pipe?? Or do you just spit it out like you do with cigars?? Great looking stuff by the way....made me really wanna try it and I had to roll a quick one just to finish the video lol.
@User-15434 жыл бұрын
Phangz 83 it’s up to the smoker. Some people inhale and some don’t. To me it’s just like inhaling a cigar, harsh lol
@imalamboman123 жыл бұрын
To get the effects of tobacco, you do not need to inhale. The contact of the smoke with your mouth and nose is enough.
@idacow82375 жыл бұрын
use fresh unpasteurized honey, it's antibiotic and will no allow any mold to grow, get it from a local bee-keeper, and I have to ask, do you smoke this or chew it? or possibly both?
@GlueFist5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike, I have been using unpasteurized honey lucky enough to get from a good source mixed with a little distilled water, still get some mould though I think more a case of just getting the right amount of drying time before I cellar it. And to answer your question, it's to smoke..pipe smoke specifically. Thanks for the tip
