I knew I would need the whole unit on this one, so JoAnn Wiltz, Katie McKittrick, and Loreta Frankonyte joined me on this dangerous rescue. A protective mom or dad can be very dangerous - we just make it look easy :-)

My rescue had a chip. The owners turned her in to the Humane Society. She was in bad shape. She was blind from dry eye, no hair except some on her head from flea infestation and infections from it. She was 8 lbs when she should be 10 to 11 lbs and she'd been having puppies. All I can say about the owners is I'm happy they took her there and not dumped her on a hwy somewhere because I wouldnt have her now. We love her dearly.❤

Yup, Bear is one big lovable pup, why would his previous owner dumped him, maybe he wanted a vicious dog not a tame one, who knows? Bear is now in a wonderful home with loving people being pampered.

Yeah, it seems really sad. Normally the dog owners who chip are more protective and invested in their pets. No clue what happened there but very happy he will be getting a good home with someone who wants him.

Yes, Bear had a lucky escape from those heartless people! I pray they never take on another pet, for pet ownership is a privilege that they do not deserve! Bear has clearly landed on his big, beautiful paws with his new owners - delightful people who will give him the love and care he deserves. Happy days for the teddy Bear!

I teared up when I heard that Bear's owner didn't want him back. Bear seems like a sweet and loving dog who deserves a forever home and a family that loves him. And Bear did find a loving forever home!!!

Maybe he ran away and was lost for a long time and the owners later moved into an apartment that didn't allow dogs. That's the only reason I would understand.

I don't get this. Someone clearly loved this dog and that's why he's so sweet. But, then they dump him and don't want him back? I have a cat that was rescued as a stray at 1.5 years. He is so sweet and loving, clearly someone took the time to care about him. I cannot imagine anyone not wanting a cat like him. He's such an alpha, but really sweet. He wins over all animals and they all follow his lead. He snuggles with me at night. We have 2, 2 year old cats now and he's so amazing with them. Why would someone dump a cat like that? I've had him for 10 years now and he's still so grateful for everything.

@James Mara 'chic' is far from what a 'chick*' is. Buy yourself a dictionary, there is a lot of words you will find the meanings of so many words you have been mis-using. As well as how to spell them. I have so much more concern of the most un-sanitary parts of animals' bodies they lick, chew at, and cleaning, and THAT AREA YOU SO WORRIED ABOUT IS ONE OF MUCH LESS OF BEING A UN-SANITARY PART OF A ANIMALS BODY.

I had the same vibe from bear. Loved the shot of him being a lap dog on the lady. This was an unusual vibe for me where the adult dogs were just as appealing as the puppies...maybe more!

Most Rottweilers are just like that. Every Rottweiler that I've owned AND I've mostly ever owned Rottweilers all my life "had 5" and EVER single one was just like that. They will jump on your lap and act like a lap dog and are so sweet. I've never owned a rottie that was bad. All of them were super loving AND great with kids. My nieces use to sleep right on the dog and it looked so uncomfortable lmao but the dog wouldn't move so he didn't wake the kids up. AND they are the smartest dogs ever! I had to child proof all the door knobs in my house because almost all my rotties learned how to open doors with their teeth lol

People that would leave any pet along side a freeway should he prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law when and if they are ever found… this is just insane. NO, animal should ever be treated like they have no value. They just figured that the animals be run over or just left to die. The rescuers are angels.

Completely 1000% agree. Sadly, some people don't see dogs or pets in general as part of the family so when they become 'inconvenient' for them, they abandon them. I have two rescue dogs that I would run into a burning building to save, and it upsets me that there's thousands of dogs out there that live on the street and don't have a loving family that would do something like that for them. Dogs deserve better.

Yes, so many people simply don't have a heart. Dogs give unconditional love and they are tossed aside like garbage. I agree, anyone who does this doesn't deserve the love of a pet. It makes me furious because dogs are family, they are a commitment for the duration of their life which is always far too short.

Dr Boom there are plenty of chipped dogs that are abandoned. maybe people start off with good intentions for their pup and chip them. but very often people will find their dog to be too much of a hassle as they grow, especially a big boy like bear. Also what people fail to understand is that a pet is not an accessory or a stuffed animal, it’s a member of your family so the fact that she didn’t want him back is pretty indicative of her attitude towards animals. I don’t like to think negatively of people like that but I’ve often seen that people don’t apply the same respect to animals as they do to fellow humans. If that were my pup I would be actively looking for him, and if he were ever found be there asap to pick him up and take him back home and love him like he deserves! PERIODT

Dr Boom: Many shelters chip the dog before they’re adopted, so a chip doesn’t mean the owner did it him/herself.

@Dr Boom With all due respect, sir, having worked in a no-kill shelter for the past ten years, it's been seen all too often. If the previous owner didn't want the dog, they would've surrendered the dog for whatever reason. Once called, they would also reveal that to the rescuers. That doesn't appear to be the case here. This dog was running with a pack of two other dogs. Sorry to sound negatively, but it's more common than one would think. We chip all of our animals and we register them to the new owners as part of the adoption process. Still, periodically, we end up retrieving an animal for the same reason - people may have had good intentions, then realize it's too much work and expense. Sadly, even if we're full, we would still accept an animal who was previously adopted by us and find a foster.

It kills me when someone gets a pet and they don’t want them back when they go missing. If you aren’t going to treat your pets like a family member and accept the responsibility of being their guardian for the rest of their lives, then do yourself a favor and don’t get a pet.

It's entirely possible that in the time he's been gone their life situation has changed and they can no longer provide him an adequate home. People lose their dogs and end up not being able to take them back sometimes. If you can no longer provide a good home, it's a good thing that you don't try and end up neglecting them.

@@Serpentrose I make a conscious effort not to judge others & I have a heart full of empathy & grace. That being said, I agree w/ @JohnLii on this one. It's a stretch to justify abandonment is it not?!? I lost everything in the market collapse of 08-09. I couldn't keep all of my pets when I lost my house but I did what was right by them, even if it was difficult. I don't judge someone for abandoning their pets. What I take issue with is the deliberate choice not to leave them in a safe place with the likelihood of being cared for--like a vet's office, a no-kill shelter, police dept, hospital, school, pet store, nice neighborhood, you get the idea!!! If you're gonna dump your dog out of a car & onto the streets, at least have the decency to drop it in a place where it stands a chance of being cared for. If we all lived by the Golden Rule, there'd be no need for judgement.

It’s possible that the owner couldn’t really take care of him, and Bear might have escaped or something. And maybe after being assured that Bear would have a better life with someone else decided the best thing for him would be to give him up. Not saying it’s definitely what happened, but it’s possible.

Some people think they can handle the responsibility of adopting a dog/cat but really they cant. I use to have a cat, she had something happen and we didn't know what to do. We had to give her back to the shelter, my eyes water just thinking about her. 💔

@@aya6631 i adopted a 2 months old rottie a year ago the first 2 weeks he was still crying and i had to study so i had a conflict with my parents to return him to the foster family but they didn't simply do it they told me just give him some time after like 2 months he became so quiet and now he's my best friend i feel so stupid and vile when i think of what i was about to do and i thank god every day that i didn't do it

I had a rottweiler X German Shepherd growing up. Could not find a more beautiful caring pup in the world. Dogs aren't bad, bad owners create bad dogs. Bears owner must have treated him well for him to be so gentle but they must have reasons for not wanting him back.

The easy part - finding homes for these magnificent puppies!!!! They are irresistible. That was one of the bestest rescue videos I have ever seen! What a team! You all were angels of mercy saving the lives of these gorgeous dogs. I was so moved by this team in the middle of a dangerous highway, risking life and limb to make this successful rescue! And as great as the puppy rescue was, the rescue of the Rotty and pit bull was like so special! They were like a couple from a casting call for a Disney doggy movie. In fact this rescue story has it all...danger, suspense, excitement, super hero victory, love, warmth, a great cast of characters and the happiest of happy endings! But even better than a movie, it was real. What a team of angels you all are. Bravo! And thank you, thank you.

As I watched the touching video, I thought, "You're angels." I have only one dog, but it is very hard to go out for a walk, and I think that you are really great at helping many dogs. Only a dog owner really understands and understands what you're doing. There's a huge difference between taking a look and having to keep looking after your dog.I support you in South Korea. The Rott and the lab were clearly someone's pet at some point. Its sad people throw out dogs like they are trash. I'm so glad these pups were found and now are treated well.

B H exactly I have a dog who owners abused her for ten year then when she would not go up to them left her and their two other dog to only be fed once a week and that’s the only time they would visit them. I was only able to save my girl because she was the only one that could be gotten near without attacking. The other two was a German Shepard that was never train and used as a stud (too aggressive to get near and I couldn’t risk it because I was only fourteen when they left) and a 16 year old that was put on a chain (form what I know they bought it back to their house but it seemed to be way to sick to be able to live long after.)

Crex MM if the rottie wasn’t neutered it would have been possible that both dogs were the dads. It’s possible for puppies of the same litter to have different dads.
