Billy Ray Harris, the homeless man who returned the engagement ring dropped in his donation cup, now has a part-time job, friends and has reconnected with loved ones. In a surprise reunion on Sunday on TODAY, Harris reunited with his family for the first time in 16 years.

Seems sad that after all these yrs, they find him after he gets this money, wonder if they were really looking for him before that? Hope he does not just let ppl take it from him, hope he gets a house & car, & uses the money for himself, not many honest good ppl left out there!!!

They were able to locate him via social media....it's not like he had a phone & kept in touch daily.. Remember he was homeless & probably he didn't make the best decisions earlier in life. You cant teach grown folks to do whats right...it has to have been taught as a child

I live in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area..... And I will come home from work from UPS outside of South Philly into Camden & And they would be guys like him sitting on the Walter Rand transportation center floor..... People would mistreat them daily, And I would sit down and talk to them and get to know them. Most of the people had went through hard times, or lost loved ones and couldn't recover from it. You should never judge a book by its cover because you never know the hidden treasures of them

I say that he's a really good and sweet man. I say what Billy did, he really deserves. That's really sweet of what he did. Other than selling it just to get a little bit of money, returning it to the actual owner. Got him some good money, a home, and finally reuniting with his family, he hasn't seen in over 16yrs. Sad what he and his family had to go through for 16yrs. They've got a lot of catching up to do. His niece and nephew finally get to meet their Uncle they've never met before. Even though I don't know him, glad that he's finally found his family, and they found him.

I saw this when it originally aired on the Today Show and still think of that line from time to time. Always cracks me up! 😂 Of the terrible rumors swirling around, to Billy Ray, the worst were that people thought he was dead... or in Arkansas. LOL!

There’s a guy on TikTok, who uses a metal detector at the beach. He recently found a $40,000 wedding ring. Somehow he was able to track down the original owners who showed him proof of the purchase and pictures they had. What’s so crazy they gave him nothing for returning it to them. Pretty sad.

@@touchmenot54 I'm not blaming the white.... yes they assisted him which is great. With them by his side his family will not get the opportunity to take advantage. We dont know the backstory to him becoming homeless. I read the article his family did attempt to look for him with no luck. Placed an add in craigslist. Remember he's not a child so there wasnt a man wide police search.... he didnt have a phone to keep contact either. He had as much responsibility just as the family to keep in touch. The family don't want his money. Half of it is gone between home, car, clothing, not to mention taxes... so please miss me with the blame game
