Homeless people in Darwin are copping fines for sleeping rough, but there's also a shortage of beds to go around, so is it really fair?

Giving fines to homeless people is like throwing pebbles against a wall. It is not a solution to a massive problem. These people need a system that works not one that fails them.

@@nikitaw1982 Report says - 1 in 20 NTs are homeless with the vast majority being indigenous. In Darwin, 300 crisis beds but 1000 people sleep rough on the streets each night. Govt aren't providing enough beds to accommodate the homeless.

Labor cant blame the 'previous goverment' for this. Australia doesent need a 'Voice', it needs politicians that arnt afraid to say what the problems are, instead of being more concerned with their own careers.

U invaded there land, massacred and poisoned there people,removed them from there land, displaced them from their traditional lands,tried to assimilate them into your society, made them conform to your laws, even though they weren't citizens in their own country.still fighting for justice, recognition, racism, equality, these are the first Australians who had a society, who had their own laws,own culture, own lands, own boundaries within this country . they've suffered generational trauma, so who's to blame for the way they are and how they live?😊

NT $1,500 per homeless person, compared to other states of $14,000 per homeless person funding! That's sad. Matters like this is why "The Voice" is needed.
@tonybloomfield5635
@tonybloomfield5635 Жыл бұрын
It is way beyond sad but can you please enlighten me to how the advisory only, 'Voice' is going to make this even the slightest bit clearer to those in power? This problem has been well known to ALL politicians, Liberals, Labor, Nationals, Greens and the others both State and Federal for many years. They already consult with community, they already claim to be doing all they can ("with much more work needing to be done"). Will those calling for 'The Voice' suddenly sprout a conscience and start taking action because they hear what they already know from many of the same people they already talk to simply because they are then going to be part of a 'Voice'?

Most backpackers who visit Australia find it absolutely shocking to witness the attitude many Australians have towards the indigenous people of the land. hatred is wide spread and alcohol and gambling have destroyed what was once a natural paradise. I would have stayed for life if it was not for the widespread racism.

Because of the cultural differences between Sweden and indigenous people of Australia. Their culture and society went through decades of oppression and persecution. Read John Pilger’s “A Secret Country” about the impact.
