Homeless World Cup - Finding a Home In Football

The 13th Homeless World Cup is bringing together 63 teams from 49 countries this week in Amsterdam this week. Eli joined the opening weekend festivities and captured some of the stories of the people who are making this event possible. The event and its constituents have grown leaps and bounds since its humble beginnings in 2001.

Are the players currently homeless? If so why don't they just use the money needed to travel or run the event to just give them homes.

+Nathan Evans (RoyalAviator) No they have experienced poverty previously in their life and this tournament is helping the players and previously homeless people build up their strength, courage and self esteem. The tournament is also raising awareness for the spectators and for everyone else an insight of what poverty is and how we can help, it also shows that not all homeless people are on drugs and spend their money for gambling and even if they were previously, like the dutch goalkeeper, they can be rehabilitated and can provide things to society. Mainly the tournament allows not only the players or the fans to help with the fight against poverty, but it allows everyone to make the world a better place.
