Homelite Chainsaw Fuel Line replacement

In this video I replace a missing Fuel line and Primer Bulb.
I realise that I didn't have to remove everything to replace the lines but I wanted to give you a close view on what it looks like.
I could not find any video that shows where the fuel lines come through the gas tank.

Outstanding Video!! You can take the throttle rod off with out dissembling the handle, the slot in the plastic is big enuf, but the way you did it is just 3 screws. Some times a light smear of grease helps pull those fuel lines thru. I think I hooked my primer bulb up backwards. Its should suck fuel from the carb, and delivers it back to the tank. At least thats what the internet says, and the internet never lies. I think the long nipple is the out, and the short nipple is the suction? can test it with your finger when pressing on the bulb. Awesome video. I have the same saw. I've had it for probably 10 years and my fuel line broke off at the fuel tank. I couldn't see where it goes because my saw is WAY dirtier than yours. Thanks for the video.

Took 15 minutes to do the replacement. As someone suggested below, you don't have to take anything internal off except the airfilter. Then run your wire line DOWN through the hole into the gas tank, attach your new fuel line to it, pull it up through the hole, and attach as needed.

got a homelite for 40 bucks on ebay and the fuel line was pretty much dust. Thanks for this, hopefully i'll be able to get it back running, aside from the fuel line and rusty chain the saw is in otherwise good condition.

Have the same chain saw. Replacing the fuel line. Couldn't figure out how to fit the line through the snug hole. I learned the fuel tank is actually part of the body one piece. Not a separate tank. I will have to find the same kit to use .

Great Job! Was the gas you put in mixed with 2 cycle oil? Looking at the primer bulb, it didn't look like it. Just curious.

Late comment, I've got one from a buddy. Pretty close to yours, it's the 16inch ranger model. It's been leaking bar oil like crazy. Any thoughts or ideas what it may be. Also the red looking button next to the chock. There's supposed to be a purge bulb, mine doesn't have one either at the moment. But going to it involves getting close to the carburetor. So thought "might as well replace it while I'm there" but wanna figure out the leak first before I start throwing parts at it. If the leak is coming from the tank. Do you know any products that could fill the crack. Thank you and awesome video

I just got one of these babies running. We had issues with the chain brake, but other than that it was a good saw. But it hadn't been run in five years or so until I dug out of the cobwebs. Surprisingly with a quick tuneup she rips! This thing tore through some oak w/ a new chain. It cuts better than I remember. I'm hanging onto it as long as it runs...I wish it had log dogs tho...anyone know where they sell an air filter for it?

I question having to take apart all you disassembled and especially the handle area. I was able to replace the gas lines and bulb on a similar model without any removal of the carb. Wasn't real easy, but I'm afraid to take apart too much and forget how it all went back.Also, couldn't you look up the hose parts on line and order exactly what you needed for the model?

When I take something apart that has a ton of pieces I usually get my camera and record myself taking it apart. Then I replay it to put it back again. Yes, the internet has great info on what parts you need to purchase. Thanks for watching and commenting.

You can buy the fuel line at most hardware stores or lawnmower shop Lowe’s ect

I just used the same exact fuel line kit on the same exact chainsaw this past weekend. No need to take the carb off though, just feed the wire tool through the tank and out the hole, pull the lines down. Would have saved you some time. Still, nice repair and nothing beats a free chainsaw.

markgriz I know right... God blessed me with a free 16inch homelite ranger that just needed a primer bulb ... I put a new primer bulb in it and it said to prime it 7 times so I did and on the last push I felt it pop something in the carburetor so I took it all back apart and found that the diaphragm busted so I fixed it and put it back together and I think I got a line backwards or something because now it will prime and crank but won't stay running so I'm trying to fine a diagram for the fuel lines and can't seem to .. it's driving me crazy haha ... I've taken it apart and swapped lines and no change it still does when I hit the throttle.... Any idea of what could be going on ? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated ... Thanks , Brandon

It’ amazes me what idiots will throw away I can’t tell you how many saws I got for 10or 29 dollars and that’s all it was people ought to learn to fix something instead of buying a new one every time I bet I got 50chainsaws that I have collet over the years I guess that’s better than being addicted to dam drugs anyway great video

There’s most two sizes but all you want is for the line to be snug when it go’s through the holes good Luck chainsaw mechanic

Fuel line appears to be too stiff for a chainsaw, I use Tygon yellow line which works pretty good.

Brandon maybe you need to adjust carb if you hold trigger and it stays running adj that most of chainsaw carbs have to have the carb adjusting screw driver set order that on Ebay good luck if it’s priming the line are probley right but sounds like carb is out of adjustment or you got a bad carb if the rest of the chainsaw in good shape go on eBay and order a new carb they are cheep hop this helps and good luck chainsaw mechanic
