Sergey Bondarenko 53 seconds ago Hello my dear friend designer. Put a caterpillar tensioner on your machine, otherwise the caterpillars will be constantly snacking. The upper support rollers are very narrow, make them wider otherwise the caterpillar may just fly off. The design is very interesting, but the transmission is very weak, the belts will wear out very quickly. Put an automatic clutch, for example, from a snowmobile or a full-fledged clutch from a car. use the gearbox to humiliate the gear ratio, because the engine is very weak and the EMU is complex to move such a structure, and on turns it stalls in you. And you will be happy

English at bottom. The driving wheel needs to be pulling the track not pushing it. It also needs track tensioners. Make the front the back, flip the differential over, swap the drive wheels left to right. The more weight you add the worse the problem will be if you dont do it now. Keep up tho good work. Hope this helps.

You really need to install track tensioner or shorten the track. I also suggest you look at installing up to 3 additional support roller wheels on the outer edge of the top (under the track) to keep the track from leaning to the outside. Great job overall.

I was wondering why he made the tank front drive. Because of all the tanks that I have seen they have had the drive wheels at the back. It would be easier and a lot less work if he just turned the controls and engine around. So the tank pulled the tracks under the wheels rather than pushing them over the top of the small wheels. Well I ges you live and learn. But its still cool to see something built in a small garage.
@gufo_tave

Front wheel drive tanks were common in WWII. At that time, most tanks had rear engine and transmission on the front (remember that transmission in a tank is also a steering component). After the war, tanks with rear engine-rear wheel drive start to be more common, but there are some exceptions, like the Merkava (although in this case, the reason for front wheel drive, is due to the presence of the engine on the front)

Track tensioning, drive teeth are problem areas . Tanks usually have the drive sprockets in the back, not in the front. Spin the driveshaft the opposite way, and turn the chair/ controls around. Consider adding a roll bar,too. Otherwise, great job !

BRAVO MY FRIEND! Tank drives always used a toothed drive gear to stop track bite that you experienced and all tanks experience some amount of track sack as you apply torque to the track usually in reverse so they rarely back up perfuring to just lock track turn the tank. Agine BROVO!

Instead of metal link style track like a bulldozer, I would've used rubber belting and cleats. No slip on the drive sprockets, less weight, etc. A small 2wd truck with open differential would be the entire driveline needed, just separate left and right brakes for steering much like the ripsaw tank vehicle driveline. Except the tracks would be more like a pistenbully or prinoth. You'd also have reverse. I like your videos anyway, keep up the good work man, very talented.

How to make this tank run properly. 1) All 6 wheels should not completely touch the ground at the same time. The front and rear axle should be mounted slightly higher off the ground than the middle axle. So the tank teeter-totters a small amount on the middle axle. 2) Connect the drive shaft and brake calipers to the middle axle. 3) Slot the frame where either the front or rear axle mounts. The same way the wheel on a bicycle mounts. Use a heavy duty spring pushing the axle towards the rear of the slot. EXPLANATION: Moving the drive shaft and brakes to the middle axle will make it easier to turn the tank somewhat in its own tracks. By making the center wheels always in contact with the ground more than either the front or rear wheels, means less resistance trying to turn all 6 wheels. Plus less strain on the motor by placing the pivot point in the center of the tank. Rather than the pivot point be at the front or rear axle, as it is currently. Slotting the frame for the axle will force tension on your tracks, while eliminating the slack. It also allows a little bit of give so you won't break the treads upon heavy impact with obstacles. The spring is not required. But if used, the spring has to be extremely hard in order to maintain enough tension on the tracks. PEACE!!!

@ProsperST
@ProsperST 4 жыл бұрын
@@robinbrowne5419 What is here to discuss? Let's proceed from the reality - the vehicle is being built, as you might say "on a napkin". So minimal costs are of essence. If the driving axle is rear, then the lower part of the tracks is tense during driving, creating a stable base for the movement, and the upper part supports tension simply due to the law of gravity. Is it possible to make the front axle leading? Of course, yes, but then it is necessary to add additional tensioners to the design, which for the DIY project significantly increases the overall expenses. So far I see that the author tries to minimize them.

There have been a lot of successful tracked vehicles with the drive sprockets at the front. Most ww2 German tanks (Panzer I - VI ), WW2 American tanks (M3 M4 M5 High Speed tractor and loads more. The M18 Hellcat was the fastest American tank on the road). More modern are the US M113 family and the M2 Bradley, the British F432 series, Warrior and the Scorpion family, the German Marder IFV, the Swedish Strf90 and the Soviet BMP series. It has more to do with the design of the drive sprockets and track than anything else.

10:06 I think it can. He made two levers for steering, like in most pre-Cold War tanks. Although I suspect the engine could not handle it very well.

I agree about turning issue and the tracks need to be tighten way to much play. But he is doing a great job so far.

Them rubber tires whey don’t you space every other one apart so the first one is touching the inside of the track and the second is touching the outside of the track and so on? That way the track won’t sag (be uneven) over the rubber tires! Or even better double up each tire!
