I just made my 1st batch of friction polish, I used 1 part bees wax, 2 part carnauba wax and 4 parts mineral oil. I also used those little cups, like the ones you get sauces at the Chinese restaurants in.

Your video helped me today but I do want to offer a little advice from a viewers perspective. Just a tiny bit of "nice" criticism. If you were to plan out a script in advance to follow could help you shorten the processes a bit and keep the viewers intrest. People are horrible with patience. I know this because I can exsplain things like that. 👍 For KZfaq sake it helps to get to the point when making tutorials. Plus you won't need as much editing which can be time consuming and tricky for some. But like I said, your vid helped me today. I made a one application buff and polish paste with baby oil, spakeling, and melted surfboard wax made from beeswax lololol 😆. But you know what! It actually really turned out and did an amazing job on my truck. Thank you 😊

Thank you, josh i'm glad that this helped you, and thank you for your advice. I have been kicking around the idea of some kind of script for my videos.

Looks great! Can't wait to see how you use everything. Might I recommend eventually doing some voiceover stuff, especially for the different sites, and if you have things to say during long processes such as melting, and mixing you could just speed up the video and talk over it. Definitely not necessary but might be worth looking into!

Can i use boiled linseed oil instead of mineral oil?
@deadwoodcastingturning
@deadwoodcastingturning 2 жыл бұрын
Beqs, I would say yes. I know several creators that use different oils for their finishes. I personally use mineral oil, because I buy it out of the pharmacy department and know it to be 100% food safe.

Hi. When you say mineral oil? ) mineral turpentine)? Pharmacy grade? For bees wax I have to drive 1.5 hours each way. If I can use mineral turpentine? ( pharmacy grade) or what about pharmacy grade kerosene? Any reply appreciated cheers from Australia just subbed.nice work love it so much. Great business idea. 🙂👍👍👍

what's special of diatomaceous..mix..sir..
@deadwoodcastingturning
@deadwoodcastingturning 2 жыл бұрын
The special purpose of the diatomaceous mix is to remove the super fine scratches in your project, before the final finish is applied. In my case the shine polish.

It’s a good, cheap abrasive that has a grit about equivalent to 1200-1500 or so. It’s also food grade (or some of it is, check the package).

can u use wood ash instead of that earth?
@MD-en3zm
@MD-en3zm Жыл бұрын
It’s not going to be as hard, but you might get some burnishing effect as you can use wood shavings to do it. You can always try - but also, the ash may stain wood. DE is really cheap and edible so I’d go that route.
@deadwoodcastingturning
@deadwoodcastingturning Жыл бұрын
I'm sure it would work, BUT it would not make it food safe. Thats why I go with the DE

No. Go to your local pharmacy, and ask for Liquid Paraffin. This is what Mineral Oil is.
@MD-en3zm

Yes, it’s sold in pharmacies as a laxative. Not all mineral oil is USP (food grade), but you can definitely get USP mineral oil.
