Armenian Yogurt : Probably the easiest and simplest thing to make, plus it’s really healthy and delicious. I call this kind of yogurt : Armenian yogurt. Why , because this is the kind of yogurt that my grandmothers and mom used to make, also every Armenian housewife or lady knows how to make this kind of yogurt, therefor I can definitely name this Armenian yogurt:)

If you live in America, you can find Yerevan yougurt in whole food store. It’s amazing for starter too.

Thank you for the great cooking videos. When I was growing up my father made yogurt.. he called it modzoon.. is this the same?

My father passed away before I could get his recipe.. I’m so glad I found you!! Thank you for the videos. I am also Armenian and I’m trying to learn how to cook.. my grandmother did most of the cooking but when she passed away all of the recipes went with her.. she never had a cookbook all of the recipes were in her head.. hope you have a blessed day.. thank you again

My mom used to make it in a large corningware with a gal of milk, then she would wrap it in a blanket and it sat covered with lid and a huge blanket, of course, overnight, the next day in the fridge and soon we are all getting yelled at for eating the *face* lol Yeresuh amenuh, ove goodeh? thnk u milliooons dear elena thats a super easy great yogurt recipe..i never liked the yogurt machine to make homemade yogurt so this is just perfect for me..n btw im a 24yrs old gal but im just like ur mom n grandma i hate measurements and thermometers its just not for me lol..thts why i usually like cooking or baking bread more than making cakes or sweets cos no measuring needed maybe im weird but im tryig to get used to following cakes measurements pray for me lol..have a gd day dear and will follow u soon on instegram how i forgot tc for now x

Hi, Me again. My mother-in-law said her relatives used to smuggle starter by drying it on clean handkerchiefs and pinning to their under skirts.

If I want it to be a little thicker consistency, do I need more strained yogurt to the milk or?

Thickness comes from the quality of the milk, unfortunately all the milks they have here are mostly fat free or have very least amount of fat, that's why I was unable to get the really thick and creamy texture, just like we used to make in Armenia, but the taste was still good :)

+heghineh oh ok, I will definitely do the whole milk but I know what you mean no matter what the milks here will not compare to the ones in Armenia or any of those countries wit organic high quality dairy.

I suggest you to use Whole Milk and add a cup or two of heavy cream. That way, your Yogurt comes out thick. You can experiment with amount of cream that you want to use, but to get it right, always use same amount of milk. Here is some suggestions: Half-and-Half: 12% fat Light Cream: 20% fat Light Whipping Cream: 30% fat Whipping Cream: 35% fat Heavy Cream and Heavy Whipping Cream: 38% fat
