Thank you! I live in an apartment that doesnt have a washer/dryer hook up so I bought a portable washer but the spin cycle hardly works and is too noisy. Started just washing then wringing out myself but got a nasty blister on the inner side of my thumb from doing heavy stuff like Jean's and hoodies. Saw wringers online for almost 150 dollars and almost lost my mind. This is so much better! Thank you!

Look up "diy laundry wringer 3 bucket system" She uses 2 buckets, one with holes drilled in, sandwiches the wet laundry in between and sits on it Its cheap and effective

Hey Eric.. Love your wringer idea... I just wanted to add a little about the plunger part...I used about the same sized plunger and instead of drilling I cut out 4, three sided rectangles about 1 1/2 "X 1" I did NOT cut the 4th side out which creates a check valve of sorts, so when you STOMP down the water comes up and through but with the rubber flapper still there, stops the water from shooting up into your face. This seems to allow a much better agitation...Also, when you lift back off it creates a suction of sorts... Thanks for sharing...I'll be sending you my email address...

Respect to that dude...Great effort and result. I'm inspired. when I get back home to Philippines I'm gonna try to make one of these... using your design as a template. One thing I definitely might try n improve upon is the upper roller adjustment which I think needs to create a little more 'squash' pressure. Instead of the bungie cord/rope maybe a few drilled holes for an adjustment peg can into to hold the roller at the chosen height (or rather gap between the two rollers). Problem may be not creating friction between the pegs and the ends of the rollers. Hymn, I'm thinking sealed bearings (like you see on bike axels/wheels) sandwiched along the ends of the roller where there's pressure from the pegs. Thanks for great video

Shame though, however I am a carpenter and I was toying with the idea of making one, but I couldn't find anything online that was anything other than adverts for handwringers or erm the bucket squad lol. Still even with this video alone, it has filled in the gaps in my brain freeze. I have a couple of smooth wooden handrollers at home and now with this video I can go ahead and make one. I make spinning wheel belts and beeswax holds the the woven strings together and gives it grip on the wheel. Want to make one of these to wash my fibers before spinning them. Wow! I've looked almost nightly since November online for instructions on how to make a wringer, and it took this long for you to appear in the search results. You are a clever fellow to have figured out how to make a clothes wringer. I don't quite get how the bottom rolling pin is attached. If you still have those instructions, I'm interested in them. Thanks!
@ericrickards2697 жыл бұрын
Justsaying Wi I'm glad you stumbled onto the video! The lower pin is freewheeling down there. I left the original rod and plastic keepers in it from its original days as a rolling pin. I removed the handles and drilled a hole in each side or the upright frame arms to accommodate the rod. The plastic keepers weren't up to the task though, and I had to put a shim alongside the inside of the upright frame arms to keep the plastic keepers from bending and popping out. It's certainly something you can improve upon when you build yours! If you would like a copy of my crude plans, just send an email to ericrickardstv@gmail.com so I can send them along!

SaMiChi I did consider it but eventually decided not to for two reasons. First was cost. I was trying to build this as inexpensively as possible. I think I understand everything about the design of your wringer except the plastic piece on the left. 1) Was that to fill some extra space that was there by accident? 2) How do you keep it from falling out? 3) Do you need it if the design was different as you said? I love your easy going nature and your excellent way of explaining!!
@ericrickards2696 жыл бұрын
Becky Lawler, thank you for your kind words! The plastic shim between the rolling pin and framing was added because of an issue with the way the rolling pins are constructed. They have a smaller diameter metal bar running through the much larger diameter hole in the wood roller itself. At each end of the rolling pin where the metal bar exits the roller and would normally go into the handles, there is a circular plastic piece with a small hole in the middle that pops into the hole in the roller. The smaller diameter metal bar runs through the hole in the middle of this plastic piece. When I would have a decent amount of tension on the bottom roller (like while wringing a pair of jeans) the pressure would cause the plastic piece to pop out of the roller. Then the bottom roller is lopsided and on one side it is turning directly on the metal bar that runs through the interior of the rolling pin. So to fix that problem I added the shim (which is held in place with a single wood screw) to one side of the framing. That keeps the roller close enough to both framing arms that the plastic pieces stays put. When this wringer quits, I would like to rebuild the bottom roller differently and avoid having to use the shim. I would prefer to have a dowel the same diameter as the roller run all the way through. I’m sure there are a hundred good fixes, though. The wringer does work just fine this way, though. And it avoids cost, I suppose... I hope this helps clarify that part of the wringer!

I am wondering why the tubs when you have a bathtub? I was wondering about using the tub for washing/rinsing), mounting the ringer on the wall (in a place you wouldn't run into it while taking a shower) and putting a clothesline over the tub using an old fashioned reel and some cup hooks. . .
@masterfiddler115 жыл бұрын
Sherri, I have a similar setup and using a bin or tub is easier than filling the tub. Uses less water, and easier to agitate in the bin than the tub. I then use the same bin for my clothes hamper. I'm curious what you come up with, hope to see more details as you go!
