Good idea. A good realization! Like!

The motor may be under powered to realize the potential of that impeller, but you also have another issue no one mentioned. You didn't add an increasing radius as the air moves towards the exhaust. Doing this would decrease restrictions and let each impeller vane move more air each revolution.

one thing you can do for making the impeller less wobbly is to use a hand router and a verry long routerbit and use the surrounding housing to hold the router over the impeller and move the impeller under the router hand turning the electric motor to rotate it and trim the edge and the inside hole of the impeller and the fins down to the baseplate of the impeller as long as the wobble isnt from a none level mounting on the motor itself the impeller should balance out pretty good after that one word of warning , i seen another guy on youtube make a simulair type of impeller and it litteraly exploded from centrifugal force sending bit of the vanes through the side he made from perspex he since then routered slots for the vanes in the top and backplate and made the housing from sheetmetal

Having built three different cyclones and impellers in the past, I think you are a bit (a lot) under powered with that motor but if it does the job you want, good on you! Nice job, especially with your small shop and all!

Josh ..... nice job considering the tools you have to work with. Just consider a way to prevent anything from getting in that fan. Dust wouldn't be a problem, but at those velocity and mass things could get pretty hairy. Keep up the good work.

you removed material with a drill to balance the wheel, what process did you use to balance the wheel, how did yiu know where and how much to remove? sjnce the fins are curved and on an angle to the edge of the wheel what direction does the wheel have to spin since ? awesome job by the way.

I like the design but spining wood at a fast speed may be hazardous. Instead you could cut impeller fins out of 1/4" plexiglass, then with the oven set to 275 degrees heat the fins for 15 mins and then shape them around a round cylindar until cool enough to hold that shape, finally weld it with (Acylic Weld 4 bonder) to a circular piece of plexiglass cut to whatever circle size you require. This would be much stronger. Good luck with that spinning wood....
