Just made these. This is the first time I've tried making these and of course I burned the first the side of the first six. Used a ten-inch skillet on an electric stove which is tricky to guess the temperature. (Also had a bit of trouble guessing the amount of batter to use; some are higher than the others.) The second side turned out perfect. For the next three, I used a smaller skillet with a better glass lid. They turned out perfect. At any rate, they are all delicious toasted and buttered!

Kevin, I just started baking bread this year, mainly to save money and learn a new skill. My husband loves English muffins and found an English muffin bread recipe for me to try a few months ago, which is my go to recipe, because it is no fail and delicious. I would love to surprise him with some English muffin "muffins" and these look awesome! I see a muffin ring purchase in my future, and mountains of muffins on the horizon!! Thank you for showing me how easy and un-intimidating these can be to make.

These were so impressive. You're right. No store muffins could beat those. They looked unbelievably soft and the air pockets in the dough after baking looked like pastry, even better. Imagine serving those to people. I think it would be a first time experience for everyone to try muffins homemade.😮

Love your recipes. We are serving overseas right now in Northern Japan and can’t get English muffins. My son has discovered he could use a mini waffle maker to put an egg in it, then a slice of ham or Canadian bacon for a simple egg and ham on an English muffin. So your homemade muffin recipe saved the day!

I'm quite amazed by these English Muffins. They look really delicious. Over here we also call them Crumpets but it's the same thing. I've never thought of making them yet they are so simple. I will look out your link for yeast and I need some muffin rings. As an aside, I've never come across anyone who splits them in half to add loads of butter and jam so, as it's a great tip, it will be interesting to try that. Thank you for another delicious recipe. Perfect for Afternoon Tea as well I'd say. Lots of Love, Steve & Noggin, Manchester UK xxx

So ...another progress in my culinary life....Good night from Germany...

Hello, Kevin once again. I have come back to let you know about your recipe. here. I have changed it up a notch to 1/2 cup whole wheat flour instead of the regular all the way and it is a little better I think. Also, It rises with the Rapid rise yeast in 2 hours instead of 3 when put in a warm place. And as Mr. Food used to say, Oooo it is soooo good! Love this and will keep on making it as long as I can. Later! ~Mo~

Never use a microwave totally empty, it can damage the microwave. Put a cup of water in it. The water will heat the inside and provide a load for the microwave. Moisture helps proofing also.
