WOW !! This looks so much easier than the "recipe" I used to use for homemade laundry detergent!! I used the Fels Naptha soap and would have to grate the whole bar, added to washing soda and Borax. I would make a five gallon bucket full of liquid det. definitely going to give this a try!! Thanks!

I use purex natural elements detergent but its little pricey exspec when having 2kids u always do lots of laundry! So fsr seems to be the only thing i can use that isnt baby soap.

I started using home made laundry detergent a little after Christmas. Oh my, I love it!!! It should last us almost a year I think. It may come up short since we are a family of 5. Plus we have boys and one hard working daddy. But with all that said it works great! Thanks for the video! I also have to count out loud. We are from Boston MA. We would love to move some where slower paced and have space for my 3 kids to have a giant yard and room to explore. The view out your windows looks like a farm. Do you guys live on a farm?

Til Vacuum Do Us Part Boston is a awesome place to live we live 15 min outside the city. MA is a great place to live you are not far from everything, mountain's, beach,forests,country,etc. But we live about 1.5 hrs from where we want to live in NH. Hopefully in the next few years. Lol believe it or not we have never been to a Boston red Sox or Patriots game. I went to a Celtics game but not a big basketball fan. We like to ride 4 wheelers and mini bikes etc with our kids so city living isn't the best. Thanks for the comments ♡♡

Pros: My daughter has sensitive skin so it’s better for her skin. It’s cheaper and better on your pipes because it has less chemicals in it. Cons: you have to make it and it is more watery but still works well for me. It’s not as thick as normal Detergent.

I’m wondering if it suds up like regular detergent does? And do your clothes smell fresh and get stains out ?
@TilVacuumDoUsPart
@TilVacuumDoUsPart 6 жыл бұрын
It gets a little bubbly but not like a typically detergent. I always use fabric softener. The detergent itself has a fresh clean smell from the borax and washing soda. We aren’t super dirty people so I’ve never tested it with hard stains. It cleans our clothes really well. If my daughter has a spaghetti stain or something along those lines I will spray shout on it, but I did that when I had traditional detergent too. Hope this helps.

I've replaced fabric softener with 1 cup of distilled vinegar. Plus laundry balls are amazing to use instead of dryer sheets. You can even make your own wool balls. Plus I personally have had no issue with adding a few drops of essential oils to the dryer balls, or homemade laundry detergent. It's all about preference for everyone. I will add. I like your recipe, but I do advise anyone to check your manufacturers warranty on using dish soap etc. Especially, if your still paying on a new one, even if homemade detergents are not the cause of malfunction at least you can make a more informed decision to use it anyway, or wait until the washer is older, or research a recipe you feel more comfortable with. Ps thanks for sharing too.

I've read from articles by people who run natural cleaning companies and etc. The combo of vinegar and baking soda does not make homemade cleaners more effective. In my experience it doesn't seem that way either. I do use extra baking soda in my wash cycle with detergent if it's a super dirty load from working or playing outside, and 1 cup vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener. It works well for us.

I used to make my own laundry soap all the time, just like this. But then I read it can ruin your High Efficiency washer. Have you found this to be true? The last thing I want to do is break my washer machine!! Maybe its a lie the big name detergent companies made up. Lol!!
