After watching meny videos from this part of the world, making anything from replica supercars to homemade yatchs. These people are so talented, especially considering its all done with very simple tools and normally done in a pair of flip flops is absolutely inspiring! Could only imagine what they could do in a very well equipped workshop! Let's be honest who thought that engine would ever be salvageable.

Beautiful effort. One suggestion. Consider extending the exhaust pipe down at a 45 degree angle for about 20cm and injecting the cooling water outlet into the exhaust pipe at that point. From there you can use a large heavy duty rubber hose something like a large radiator hose to send the exhaust out through a hole in the transom above the waterline. The cooling water will reduce the exhaust temperature enough so that the hose will not burn. You could also use a fiberglass tube, but I do not think ordinary PVC pipe would work. This simple change will make the exhaust much more quiet.

Really, really clever!!! Some ingenious engineering solutions on this fantastic up-cycling project! I'm glad to hear you used all stainless steel material to fabricate all the bracketry, like the steering column pedestal, so it won't all rust away in 2 weeks on the water. And that you used good solid METAL pipes for the engine cooling pipework, as it carries water at over 100 degrees centigrade, with the engine right behind the seat. So that nothing can accidentally break or split the coolant pipe and spray boiling water everywhere. You did say that, right???...........Oh! Good luck whoever wants to narrowly escape death riding on that then.

Good job so far, if I may make a few suggestions. Your propshaft to the back you encased the bearings and then welded them shut, that makes maintenance very difficult. Then you have to make stop plates with some type of rebound system for the steering, otherwise those cables will not hold up for very long. Further more you are doing a very good job keep it up.

On your turning pulley at the rear of the boat, weld a cover over half of the unit on the back to enclose the cable on the pulley so it can't jump off. You can always thread the cable back through if needed
@robthomas54882 жыл бұрын
I was thinking guide loops welded on the pully disk to keep the cable on the groove , and keep air flow on it so the cable can breath and dry out, and can be easily lubed if needed. The guides would keep the cable in place also.

Absolutely fantastic fabrication skills, this was very interesting to watch. Those welds are impressive, especially considering you don’t have a helmet and work in small weld using your hand to block the arc. Is this all self taught? Only boat builder error I saw was no sealant on the transom bolts and water cooling intake. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it taken apart again and this step added. Very nice out drive / steering setup, curious how this will perform. Direct drive Nice work buddy.
