After analyzing our buddy Jeff's trike setup, me and Bo decide "We can build one of those" So here it is, from concept to fruition.

CONGRATS!!! Much respect for joining the trike world but mostly for engineering and building your own trike, saving $2K. You might want to modify the belt attachment to keep the trike up snug during flight. My Retract-a-trike has an adjustable strap that clips on the trike spine and attaches to the paramotor frame above. That keeps the pilot's legs free for weight shift, etc. I am impressed by your wing handling while taxi-ing. You now have an easy option on nil wind days!

Yes! Will definately welcome your ideas to fix the strap it was a simple solution

@@ohiyesa2328 ⚠️ God has said in the Quran: 🔵 { O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous - ( 2:21 ) 🔴 [He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know [that there is nothing similar to Him]. ( 2:22 ) 🔵 And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. ( 2:23 ) 🔴 But if you do not - and you will never be able to - then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.( 2:24 ) 🔵 And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with a provision of fruit therefrom, they will say, "This is what we were provided with before." And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. ( 2:25 ) ⚠️ Quran

I started with a spool welder for gluing AL together, it was a pain to make it work properly, lots of preheating the areas and grinding the boogers to redo. It's tough on thin material. As far as the looks, even robotic AL mig welds look like crap in high production, but they're functional. Keep the faith, get a TIG you'll love it after messing with a spool welder.

3000 is a little steep for what is basically 1 and a half bicycles that only has to touch the ground for 30 seconds

do the ears cause an issue on botched launches where it may be more likely for the lines to hit the prop?
@ohiyesa2328 Жыл бұрын
Most definitely. And cause we dont fly the trike much Im thinking of taking them off. (And I botch quite often)
@paramotorIRL Жыл бұрын
@@ohiyesa2328 thanks for replying. I put leds on my cage and someone mentioned that the lines would eventually have issues and sure enough how I had them mounted would have eventually frayed the lines. ended up ripping them off until i can mount them better. I also pulled my A's too hard on a launch and lines snagged prop on collapse another time (not related to leds), split tiny tip of my wing! I patched her up and she's been good since but was hella frustrating esp since I do my flights live! Haven't botched since luckily hahah

Could you possibly send me some info on the specs length, width, dimensions, total weight where to get the materials and such. I would like to build my own as well. The commercial light trikes are far too expensive. How they can charge $1500 to $2000 is beyond me.
@ohiyesa2328 Жыл бұрын
Nothing specific. We eye-balled the whole thing. As far as dimensions, the rear axle is about as wide as the hoop, and the nosewheel was simply the length for it to feel right when you sat down. It came out to almost be as long as the axle. The material was a hexagon aluminum pop-up tent frame 1/8" thick. Could easily find a better material but we recycled. I just put blocks under where the wheels would be and stood on the junction and was surprised that it didnt flex. Wheels were Cheap from harbor freight. 8" wagon wheel. But the bearings have worn slap out. Make sure whatever you use is rated for load. Or press your own hubs. The paramotor frame (engine mount/ torque compensation/ Harness) I gladly paid full price for. But the trike is a very simple design and as long as you have standards it will work great. Our standards were very low, simply to accomplish the idea. Total weight is about 25lbs and I have not noticed a difference in flight at all. Just make sure you understand the swingarms and how they need to be attached to the trike. Kyle'O has recently made a video series on trike building. Best of luck, and trike flying is Super fun!
@UpcomingJedi Жыл бұрын
Simple. They charge so much because most people cant weld or they think its dangerous to weld OR they are just plain lazy. That and the fact this is not mads poduced. Think economy of scale.

@@ohiyesa2328 I sell a trike plan on eBay. You should give it a look. None or very few welds required. Unless you heat treat that after you weld it. The aluminum is like butter.

@@donhuffer5167 It was more to be able to say we can fly a trike. And for the fun of the build. We dont plant on really flying it a lot. I wouldnt consider it good for permanent use
