Nice idea, you always find clever ways to solve the problems. Simple but effective I say. It isn't getting very hot over here yet but it is on the way I expect....a lot of rain. They had to open the flood gates at some of the bigger dams lately. Quite impressive I am told, but didn't get to see it.

Thanks Glenn! I enjoy problem solving and making things so I usually can't quit thinking about something until I solve it. I'm jealous of the rain, ,we have already been watering flower beds. I spent the last week putting in partial sprinkler system. Digging in the heat is not my favorite thing... Hope your week is going well.

Great idea. Are the nails exactly two inches part? I am giong to make a feeder using 2x4 welded wire as the seperator. The tray will be attached to the outside of the kit box. I don't want to have a bird in the feeder when I lift the lid to pour feed in.

They are 2 inches apart, I think 2x4 would probably work fine.

Pretty good idea. I’m looking for something like that. Do you know where can I get five of them at 2 feet length. Thank you so much for sharing.

Hi, I have a single pigeon I rescued. Her legs had been twined together poor thing. I brought her home to heal. Now as a pigeon of about 6 months old... since she was unable to fly at her young age, she stayed on the surface. First, the ground where we found her, then, in a small cage until she healed. I now have her in a larger cage, where she's learning to spread her wings. But, we ultimately find her on the cage surface & she will not go into her coop house. Not even when it rains. I know if I try to set her free, she will surely die or be eaten. The trouble is, she pecks her food very vigorously side to side & I collect the uneaten seed to re-feed to her. I'm looking for SOMEONE who can send me an idea of what to create for her that prevents her from wasting so much seed. Yr nail idea is epic. But. How to scale that down for this one single bird that's learning, wo jeopardizing her natural instincts, so HOPEFULLY I can one day release her... not sure if that'll b a good idea, bc she's lost so much time from learning from other pigeons. Any tips on a feeder to save so much seed she pecks away?? Lmk. Stumped 🤔🗯

Ok, I gotta ask...... why keep pigeons? I understand the value of all your other animals on the homestead, but what special addition do the pigeons provide? Just curious, not judging. 😊

Long story but I originally got them for my daughters to create a small business releasing "doves" at weddings and funerals. When people release doves they are actually white homing pigeons. The girls didn't do much with the business, but we really enjoy watching them fly around the place. Their bright white feathers look great against the blue sky. It's also fun to take them away, release them and then see them come back home. Not real practical but fun. Thanks for the comment!
