In this video I show you how I made my latest homemade plastic pod fishing boat. It is constructed from 3 modified 55 gallon plastic barrels. The cost of this boat without the motor, seat, and batteries was $48.00. This boat has lots of room for upgrades and is a ton of fun on the water. Thank you for watching, subscribing, and sharing. I have added Timestamps to make it easier to find the different parts of the video. The Timestamp is below.

Very nice job. I agree one of your best yet. You could add a troff style tray running sideways under the seat. This was you could have small storage on each side of the seat. Like maybe a recessed drink holder. This way if you rotate the seat you won't hit anything.

That was awesome! I think your camera guy was right-you should turn the motor around and drive it single side forward to make it more aerodynamic (aquadynamic?). Then attach a cooler between the 2 back barrels with multi chambers for drinks and small supplies. You could incorporate "pedals" for your foot rests like on motorcycles into the pvc and call it a Waterharley! :)

well its obvious that instead of stepping through the front and risking getting tangled up it is much easier to mount from the side and swing on, very nice. I used to watch the bass masters all the time and i noticed that the best fishing set up for control and fishing was setting the trolling motor to the front and pulling your fishing boat, pulling instead of pushing your water craft is more effective because the wind has less affect on your direction. So when you use the 2 floats at the back when you mount your trolling motor try to set it up so you can steer the trolling motor with your feet [just a clamp on cross bar, throttle control depends on your trolling motor. The Pro Bass trolling motor i saw was controlled with a foot pedal/pedals for direction and speed.

Again, I'd like to see spray foam in tubes and the pods to make sure you didn't take on water. To great a chance the pods would leak. You could have also molded the spray foam around the battery boxes by wrapping them in clear plastic and leaving them in place while you sprayed it. It would not have increased the overall expense or the weight significantly. If I had a pond I could use something like this one, I'd build one in a minute.

I was surprised at how well it floated. Was there much difference in speed with the motor in front? One of the best parts of your design is not just the low cost but it should last for years with almost no maintenance. I am sure you will have lots of improvements like flotation or livewells.What if you got rid of the chair so a person could lay face down over the front barrel and place a clear plastic port on the bottom so they could have a glass bottom boat and have a bimini to keep the sun off and a way to manuever the trolling motor while laying down. Find some clear water and go exploring. Thumbs up.
@supergokue1
@supergokue1 3 жыл бұрын
I was very surprised how well it floated and performed as well. On the motor, I didn't see a big difference. You do bring up a good point, I need to start speed testing to see which position is faster. On the different design, I see you and I think the alike. I had a design very similar, but my problem is that I don't know of any crystal clear water near me. I might have to do some traveling to track one down. Thank you very much for the compliments and questions.

Well, in the video total I had around 255lbs on it. With the motor on full speed, the water was pretty close to the top of the pontoon (but not coming in). At lower speeds, the water was well below the top. I will be doing a redesign with taller pontoons , I should be able to add about 150lbs capacity to it. Thank you for the great question!

Hi Superwhatever: LOL I am subbed and have been following your' designs since the beginning. I have to say you have a great imagination. So many designs, I am impressed. I like them all. I'm not being critical I have one question. It seems you are just screwing into the Pontoons. Have you ever had a problem with water leaking inside? I'm sorry if I am wrong just curious. I do think they are all neat designs. If I was going to build I would have a hard time making a choice. I am a 85 year old senior so it would probably be the lightest to maneuver. I guess this would be the one. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us, great job.
@supergokue1
@supergokue1 3 жыл бұрын
To be honest, the only time water came in is when I would swing my wet legs over them. After saying that, the pontoons do need to be a few inches taller. When I went full speed the bolts were very close to the water line. As always I am doing a few redesigns, and taller pontoons is first on the list. Thank you so much for the comment and the question!

I just have to ask, would make a difference to put a conical designed "thing" on the front of the pontoons? I've been sub'ed to your channel for about 2 years and none of the boats you've made have a pointed front on them. Have you decided it's not worth the extra fabrication time and expense and hinse not enough gain in speed or less drag. P.S. Sorry about the lack of terminology on the questions being asked.
@supergokue1
@supergokue1 3 жыл бұрын
I guess the easiest answer would be, sometimes I am not sure how to attach one without compromising the pontoon at the time. My best example would be my 5 gallon bucket fishing boat. I had no figured out how to attach a nose cone to the bucket without putting holes in it. Now, I would just use a plastic welder to attach the cone without damaging the bucket. Thank you for the great question!
@peterroberts5788
@peterroberts5788 3 жыл бұрын
@@supergokue1 Do you think it will make a difference though? I think it should. Watching the vid's it seems like there is a lot of water building up at the nose of the pontoons. Water is damn near as hard to plow through as dirt when it is going up against a flat surface. That's why cars get washed away on low water bridge crossings. Even when the water is only a few inches deep. It is just the blunt / flat face that causes the problem.

,walmart,amazon,home depot. They make a 2 part liquid foam, its for filling post holes for fencing. It expands alot and not too expensive. Or just buy a sheet of Styrofoam and cut it to fit. The use liquid nails to hold it in place. Either way works.

Hi SUPER, a few items which could be useful in fabricating the next "plasti - pleasure yacht " would be a sheet of FRP ( fiber reinforced panel ) as textured floor panels and maybe a couple plastic milk crates for storage aka tackle box or gear compartment. Your idea of EMPTY flotation canisters is heading in the right direction. Displacement with no added weight . If a person is heavier, then make the barrels taller. Or only serve LITE beer in the cooler ;-P JwgK
