Absolutely fantastic Thank you , I have tried normal cakes in foodie and not been overly happy with them and you have explained the issues well . A cake recipe with uk equivalent would be fab in blog , especially as we don’t have cake flour it’s plain flour and self raising , we also have the baking powder. I feel there is a huge gap in foodie books I have purchased living in uk , we have the newest one foodie and delighted with it. You have been ‘ the best ‘absolutely amazing

That's a good point. I'm not sure what you would use in place of the cake flour, I guess just plain flour and the baking powder is cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda.

I have the pound cake in the Ninja as I type. I weighed all the ingredients but the batter seemed to me to be a bit thick. Then I started to Google and speaking if having to adapt for Australia, I started with flour and found this. “if you want to replicate a recipe that calls for plain flour more closely, you can remove one fourth of the weight of AP flour, and replace it with an equal weight of cornstarch (known as cornflour in the UK), thus producing a finer, less glutinous flour blend.” We use plain and self raising flour here. I’ll let you know the outcome in a little while.

Thank you so much for this info! I have heard that flours are different in other countries and I should mention these things in my recipes. I honestly forget! Please let me know how it turns out and what modifications you made and I'll update my post. Thanks again!

The Salted Pepper unfortunately it was pretty much a disaster. I put photos and explanation on a Facebook Page. I Think it was simply cooking with Louise. I really don’t know why the cake was so wrong. Ni wonder if a raising agent would have helped? I won’t be able to try again for awhile. We are pensioners on a very small fixed income and eggs and butter here are a horrible price so to use 1/2 lb of butter and 4 eggs is costly.

I’m new to Ninja cooking, I would like to try this! I have the 11 in 1 smart lid version, but how do I know how much water I have to add to the pot? My booklet only has 2 cake recipes, and none of them are pund cake! They use the bake version, and one wasn’t cooked properly as you mentioned too, and the other was to brown… So I definitely am going to give this a try, with the pressure cooking method, if I know how much water I have to add. In the Netherlands Ninja cooking is not popular yet, so where do you people get your information?

This cake looks amazing! I am going to make one today. I don’t have the Bundt pan but I have two small dark metal loaf pans, which looks like they would equal the pan you used, and I don’t have an orange nor the sugar you used on top but I do have a lemon. Improvise with what I have! Do you think I should reduce the pressure cook time to compensate for two smaller pans? Maybe PC for 20 minutes but do NR for same amount of time you did?

@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
This recipe is pressure cooked, but when baking you need to lower your temp at least 50 degrees from what you would set the oven at. There are also a lot of other things to consider, like type of pan, type of batter. I would really need to see the recipe you are following to be able to help more.

Hiya, just tried this in my 15-in-1 using the ninja bundt tin. Looked horrendous and boiled. Don't know what went wrong. I'm trying the steam bake it but I have a feeling it's going to end up in the bin
@TheSaltedPepper Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the Ninja bundt tin is, but it sounds like the pan size was different or the materials were different. Did you make any other changes to the recipe? Something definitely went wrong somewhere because mine came out great. I have experienced what you are talking about though with different types of cake batters.

Lou, I need to ask you something. I don't have a stand mixer, I do however have a Ninja Blender, so could I mix it in the food processor of it ?
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
I don't think that is going to whip up the butter and sugar like it needs to, but I'm not 100% sure because I've never tried it. Do you have a hand mixer? That would work great.
@leslieslass5 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaltedPepper I don't have a hand mixer, but one can only try
@TheSaltedPepper5 жыл бұрын
I would keep it very low speed. See, the issue is you don't want to cut the butter and sugar, you want to whip it. If you have the bread attachment for the Ninja blender that is plastic, I'd use that instead of metal. I'm still not sure it will work. You can also do it by hand, but it's going to take a bit of time and a bit of elbow grease.

You made me laugh because my late wife could never get her pound cakes to come out correctly. Now- I was wondering, When I was cooking professionally at a Las Vegas Casino (No names Ahem (Rymes with Metro...Mayor) Lol, I loved that they did a whipped cream topping for a desert with Kahlua Liqueur. (I love it as a drink), anyway, Could you flavor the Pound cake with the liqueur or would the alcohol destroy the sponge? It might be better to just use it as a topping like a frosting/Icing.
@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
I would probably make a simple syrup and add alcohol to that. Bake the cake and poke holes in it and pour it over top and then make a flavored whipped cream. You can add alcohol to cakes, but it needs some adjustment and I never find the flavor to be pronounced enough to make much of a difference.
@jeffdesoto2094 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaltedPepper The Kahlua whipped topping was purdy dang good. I asked the guard manger chef how much to add. She said you just need to play with it. Too much and it breaks the whipped cream. I think they did it with a chocolate version also.

I weighed my 1 cup measuring cup the other day to see if 128g of sugar was 1 cup. I was at around 3/4 of a cup when I hit 128g. Cooking is becoming complicated, half of the recipe is metric half is American. The pressure.
@TheSaltedPepper4 жыл бұрын
Usually 1 cup of sugar is around 200 grams. Were the conversions wrong on my website? They are done automatically and I try to spot check for accuracy, but maybe I need to do more than that! Yes, the pressure is HUGE! I would weigh everything for baking, but in the US people really want cup measurements. The pressure!
@h8erism6444 жыл бұрын
@@TheSaltedPepper no ma'am. I just keep getting different conversions for different measurements, and I'm a follow the recipe to the letter type of person, and my measurements are always off. I try looking up conversion charts and they're always different than the recipe. Or the chef will put some measurements in grams and others in cups. Just my observations. I just mentioned it here because you mentioned a scale.

You know, I was always told to rinse them before putting them in compost. I hated doing that, so I never saved them. Then I saw a KZfaq video from a gardening guy @projectdiaries and he said to bake them to kill any potential Salmonella. Sounded good, so I started doing it. Not sure if that's even necessary, but it's easy enough, so I do it.
