The only problem now might be the cost of one now with the inflation and availability. I really enjoyed building mine and seeing it work though. I straight the wheels across the front of them to get them straight, I also placed shims under the bearings closest to the wheels I believe but will verify and let you know for sure to put camber in the wheels. To tighten the blade I used all thread rod with two nuts and a very strong spring to allow if bark or a piece of wood goes between the wheel and blade. I used bolts and coupler nuts at all four corners of the bearings to adjust the bearings and to make sure that they are held in place because the pressure to pull them is alot.

@@narrowstripsawing9595 Thanks Mate, you are a legend. I am busy on my own Sawmill build and want the best methods available, yours looks well designed. You are lucky to have Cooks sawmills in the USA, they are a wealth of info and gear, however shipping and customs/duties to OZ are a bit prohibitive so I am doing a lot of up cycling of second hand gear. I have a lot of ceramic discs from servicing pump mechanical seals, and may try make a blade guide using them. Thanks again

Thanks for watching my video! I appreciate it so much! I can cut a 32 inch log between my guides with the one slid full open. I wished that I would have made it wider but it's very rare that I come across a big log. I could redo both of my guide brackets and gain about six more inches but would also have to widen my track some. Don't know if I ever will because I don't come across many huge logs. Have you checked out EZ Boardwalk sawmills? I just found out about them 2 weeks ago, seem like a decent sawmill.

I got them off a old weight bench. What you can use is idle pulleys or v belt idle pulleys. It does take longer to crank up and down this way though. When I get time, I'm either going to modify a new winch to make it faster or run a shaft across the top with sprockets to raise and lower my mill to make it quicker. @@narrowstripsawing9595 i was asking about the roller followers you use to keep the head aligned with the post. Did you order those from osborn or did you find a different supplier

@@jaydooley5077 grainger has them, Osborn flanged roller and they are expensive-70 dollars each. You can use a sealed bearing, I was considering doing that but my work had the Osborn and discontinued using them.

@@narrowstripsawing9595 I'm filming mi built right now. the saw head is done and the frame for the saw head. Tomorrow working on the track 30 feet long. I did find mi self a 9 HP Briggs & Stratton engine for 50$ will try that for now.

Thank you very much! I'm planning on changing it this winter because I can only cut 8 inches deep because of the motor pulley. Planning on driving it the same size pulley on the back end of the same shaft. It cuts very well and a blast to run! Be uploading more videos soon of the lumber I have cut so far. Again thank you!

It really helps if you cut smaller diameters or widths to keep the blade straighter and true. Maybe you can do it to yours without to much trouble.
