The strap thing on foal halters is basically just a handling aid. You basically put a halter like that on and then just leave it on. When you lead the mother mare and you need to hold the foal for some reason, you can easily grab the strap without having to fumble to quickly put on a halter when the foal isn't trained for it. It's like a handle to grab a young foal in case something happens. It's used a lot when the mare and foal don't stay in the field during the night, therefore you have to bring them to and from the field a lot. I hope that makes sense.

I think the leather foal lead rope is to make it easy to catch them as you dont have to take the time to clip on a lead rope! I have seen them on rescue horses too! xx

The draught horse harness is beautiful. The hames and terrets are the bane of my life and I have tried various materials to make them and the collar pads, finally landing on a mixture of aluminium wire, faux leather and eva foam for padding the underside of the collar and the saddle pad (I dont know what that bit is called either. I also had problems whether or not to make a crupper which I didnt making a spider type breeching setup in the end which I am told is more comfortable for the horse. You did a wonderful job as always...mine dont even bear thinking about once I have seen your wonderful pieces! Oh I love the custom you are doing...thats the one that resembles my gypsy vanner. I cant wait to see what you do with his paint!

The foal leadrope is there because sometimes are hard to catch so it’s short enough for them not to stand on it but long enough for people to catch it easier

For me the easiest way to make my bonnets sturdier is I glue it all down first and fold over the edges then hand stitch over it and also so you don’t have the seem in between the ears I poke holes with my scissors and I also flip the ear pieces right side out to make them a bit neater
