Indigo and Paprika Lotus Flower Circling Taiwan Swirl Soap using natural colorants and essential oils - my entry for the January 2016 Great Cakes Soap Challenge Club.

This is my favorite soap of yours ( and I have many)! Love love love it! Does the indigo color fade with time. Sorry if this question has been asked.

keely munoz Thank you so much! That's so sweet of you to say! The indigo actually holds its color really well. A lot of the other natural colorants will fade a little over time, but the indigo seems to hang in there. The only colorant I've used that faded really bad was spirulina. It turned brown before the soap had even finished curing. Thank you for asking!

New subscriber here I’m new to soap making , and I want to be all natural handmade business. I love the idea of the infused oils . Is there a ratio on how much to infuse into you soap I know you can replace it with your oil but how much do I use for a 16 oz recipe thanks for this video beautiful soap. I’m going to binge watch some more.

Hi! I became a fan of your videos, they are so easy to watch and i learn a lot. Let me ask you a question, when u add the natura color infused olive oil, that ammount you discount from the olive oil you put in the total recipe? thanks! (sorry for my English, i am from Argentina)

Thank you for watching and commenting! :) If I have to color a large amount of soap or need a particularly dark color, I will definitely divide the recipe and subtract from the olive oil required in each part. However, when coloring smaller amounts for a swirl, I will lower my superfat a bit and just add the infused oil to the soap without subtracting any olive oil. My infusions are very strong (and I add even more herbs into the infused oils), so I only use a small amount to achieve the color I want. My soaps have always turned out fine and very bubbly. In case you're interested, I just recently did a video on how I add infused oils to my soap (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pJaFf5WpuNitqX0.html). In the video, I do it both ways - discount my olive oil and also color a small amount with indigo oil. Thank you so much for asking! Holly

Does the paprika have a possibility of irritating certain skin types?

+Carolina Elena I would definitely say yes, as with most spices. Some people actually have an allergy to Paprika and would want to avoid it. Even people with sensitive skin may have skin irritation if you use too much. In this soap, I used mostly paprika infused oil (a bit milder), and I always stay under the recommended maximums for any spice or herb. There's a good article by The Sage on how they created a paprika soap, as well as some good tips from Soap Making Resource on their natural colorants page. Thanks so much for asking!

Sorry I didn't notice. By the way you have done very nice job. How do you manage to have liquid soap for so long time? On what temperature you united oils an lye? I usually do that on 35 c or 95 f for oils and lye same and I mix very short time same as you. Anyway lovely job, I hope they smell god as day look.
