Hi Jared! I just went to Apple store yesterday and checked out the HomePod! I love it and will eventually get one. It does sound amazing and I feel with future software updates, Siri will be up to par with Alexa and Google. Just wish the price was a little cheaper.

Thanks for the review Jared. As a much older viewer it’s hard for us to keep up with all the new technology. We have the Alexa & enjoy it. We use it to play music & the grandchildren love asking Alexa questions. For example, why did the chicken cross the road?? Lol. One thing I love about Alexa is, you can say good morning & Alexa will say an important fact for that day. It’s a nice piece of history to hear.

I just bought one yesterday and I’m so excited! I’m sitting on the front porch waiting for the fedex man. 😂

Hi just checking out some other videos of yours and Ellie's but I know I am late on this but for the ring issue on this speaker I think getting a piece of felt and cut to fit on the base to protect surfaces. It would be neat if Apple manufactured some sort of felt sticky pads as an after market accessory for the HomePod. And I agree wireless would be a great feature for future models. Thank you for sharing, good info. I do not have one but would love to test one out and get the chance to experience the HomePod.

I have recently purchased the Amazon Echo (normal one) for 90$ and I have to say, the audio quality, features, the way that Alexa captures the voice it's pretty amazing, especially having in mind it's more than 3x cheaper than Apple's HomePod!

Wow, really enjoyed this review. I felt like it was very partial and totally relatable.

I wish I could get one. I happened upon Best Buy testing a return and WOW! was it amazing! But $350 is a lot of money. Not in my budget right now. I do agree that I think they were seeing their competitors as the speaker 🔊 companies first and then google/amazon for the smart speaker assistant thing as it is no secret Siri does less than the other two. As far as other speakers like UE Booms/MegaBooms/ETC, Bose that were on display for testing for mobile Bluetooth or Bluetooth standalones HomePod definitely sounds better. The area sensing is really cool. When they were testing it (whether a glitch or not), the HomePod noticed it was in a big open space and adjusted the speaker array and I be surprised if a person in the other corner of the store could hear pretty well. It’s cool but the price tag is pretty high for me now.

I asked for one for my birthday next month! Excited to get it!

I was given an Echo as a gift some time ago and love it! Not sure I'd buy the homePod cuz I'm not a big Apple user (just an iPad is my only Apple product). Prefer the knowledge base of Alexa versus Siri - and don't really listen to music very much so that's not an issue. Thanks for doing this review - good to know information!

Because I'm in grad school and have 7 more years of schooling, I won't be getting anything Apple for a while. I'm an Apple lover though and can't wait until I'm out of school and have a "real" job to pay off loans. But when it comes to apple, I like to usually wait and not get the first version of items. With Apple watch, I knew that even if I could afford one, I wanted to wait a few years when newer versions came out. They will have more features and will have improvements from the feedback given on the first versions.

Totally off subject but do you ever think about doing editing how to video? Especially with GoPro footage? I love your footage of the family you get in the summers with your GoPro.

I got an echo dot for Christmas and I use it a lot because 1) it is in my room 2) it is simple for me to just speak to it 3) I use it as an alarm to wake me up 4) I listen to music a lot Thats it. I thought I was going to use it a lot more though

Jared, have ever thought about reviewing the "Aftershokz" bone conduction headphones? As someone who is hearing impaired I was pleasantly surprised they work well for me as well as everyone else! Great product and plan to buy a second set in a year or so. (First set were free from my dad, but they're slightly damaged but still usable)

No joke... each time you asked Siri to do something, my iPhone did it! Can’t decide if that is cool or not, because I had to turn my phone off to watch the vlog from my iPad ( which did not get activated by Siri).

I tried this out at Curry’s/Pc world while no customers were there, wow, Apple has evolved since 2012.

I got this last Friday and love the sound, but I am so frustrated with trying to get it to play music from my library!! Have you been able to figure that part out?? Or maybe it will be a software up date in the future??

Loved my HomePod at first but now returned it cuz it’s just too expensive for missing many key features you can get from half price speakers Used the same money to buy two JBL Pulse 3 speakers and now actually get stereo syncing speakers system, can actually sync up to 100 JBL pulse 3 speakers if you wanted Got removable power cords and battery power usage that HomePod should have but doesn’t Also have water resistance now with JBL pulse 3

Its not stereo as its only one speaker.....buuuut apparently 'coming later in 2018' if you buy two you will be able to link them for stereo sound.

Amazon Echo is better. Alexa is better at voice recognition than Siri. Siri doesn't do too well with various accents. Alexa works with various different accents better. I like Echo better.
