Absolutely love this episode! What an excellent way to start Season 35! It couldn’t have been any better. I like how there was one plot in the episode and no subplot either. Which is refreshing.

I agree, it was a very strong start. And a clever way to talk about police brutality and overreach without mocking cops, and Chief Wiggum is one of the victims of Homer's insanity too - helps point it home that its not ACAB, but out of whack egos that are bastards. I had some genuine laughs, and I think in big part because all of this seemed really plausible for all the characters and from a relate-able place, which is something they've been able to easily prioritize more since the Disney partnership in general in recent seasons. My favourite was Homer having that classic smiley condescending tone to Lisa with: 'Um Dad, I'm worried that this massive increase in power and money is subtly corrupting you.' 'Oh Honey, relax... there's nothing subtle about it.'

I watched the new Simpsons episode this week and it was amazing for modern day simpsons. Marge realizing that she can’t hold on to memories forever is but still being able to look on them fondly was amazing I actually enjoyed this episode and Marge was likeable

I love the gag with the American flag and Punisher stickers on the laptop using orange instead of blue for the stripes.

There's a few nods to police culture, such as the Thin Blue Line flag and The Thin Blue Punisher Emblem but having orange for crossing guards. These nods are kind of funny because it's stereotypical in the police community that anybody who has the Punisher logo is focussed on policing being their entire lives.

i actually kinda love this kinda acts as a fallow up to the university episode. the safety inspectors insisted he get the proper training. he seemed to but Mr burns quickly found homer changed the results. homers other safety inspector partner retired shortly after so the new station was built in to replace him. everything was transferred over to the new station and homer is left as an example of what not to do/ living exhibit. whenever he doesn’t show up his station is used to train new staff

7:34 i rember a line from papas got a brand new badge where homer says "this is the first job where i wasnt lazy, stupid, or corrupt; and i'm gonna get killed for it"

The funniest joke was Homer owning a Punisher skull logo decal with a thin orange line going through it.

I feel like it’s finally turning around for the Simpsons

I can't wait to see Season 36 next year.

The one thing that stuck out to me was this. Had this episode been made 10-15 years ago, Homer wouldn't have been crossing guard until just about the first commercial break. There would have been a rapid succession of dumb gags that lead to one thing that lead to more gags that lead to another thing, leading to something that has some relevance. No. Here we start with Otto having a drug trip, quickly leading into the episodes A plot. All and all, this felt like a standard turn of the millennium era Simpsons episode plot, but done with a more modern season writing sensibility. We get just enough Jerk-Ass Homer that it's not overbearing, but integral to the story, but also enough that he actually has a little depth to it. Stronger character writing made all the difference.

I was happy how HILARIOUS this episode was! Seeing Chief Wiggum at odds with. Homers corruption was too good! Ive have great laughs with this and Disenchantments finale than I did Futurama's latest 2 episodes...such a shame.😂❤

Seeing Otto as Conan and his bus the trusted steed ROCKED!!!❤

I like that episode when they have a guard dog watching him as he was sleep and then they went into meltdown but the dog averted it. Meltdown averted,,good boy.

I actually really liked the ending with Otto, and it was probably one of the bigger laughs I got from this one. The whole problem was caused by him getting high and driving off with the bus so it's only fitting that the problem is solved by him coming back at just the right time. It's a nice brick joke, coming full circle, or whatever trope you want to call it.

I actually caught this episode during the live airing. I liked it, wasnt mindblowing or anything, but was a fun casual watch

So excited to watch the video already watched the episode and it was amazing

I agree that it had a great start but I must say that the analogy of police brutality sometimes felt a bit too on the nose but even that would have been fine the bigger issue for me was that Wiggum of all characters was the one opposing Homer. I think that role would have been better filled by someone else who wasn't in a position of power. I think it would have been better if it was one of his family members who brought him down to earth again. While it's been done before I think this would have resulted in a better ending. But I must say I do like Lisa's final analogy of the hammer and nail. I think I'll incorporate that into my life. Interestingly enough I interpreted the last shot of Homer being the hammer and his family being the nails as him getting mad and wanting to shut them down which felt a bit like mean Homer again. I get the interpretation of it being him wanting to fix his family first but I think that they messed up the analogy with that shot. The episode was decent and I think if the new season establishes this as the low point of the season then we can really look forward to the rest. Edit: I did love the Mr Burns actually doing something part though. That was pretty funny. And he looked way younger, 109 tops!

Crossing Guard is a rad and pretty job for Homer and I haven't watched the newer episodes in a long time but this episode is sorta nostalgic.

I loved this bit because I love my own crossing guards. I was a college student getting out of class at the same time-ish as the local middle school. They helped me across the street just like the kids, which was a big thing for a tiny adult like myself! I thanked them every time and most of them just nodded, as if to say 'It's my job'. Traffic guards are the best!

Not gonna lie, this episode rips away the emotional moment of the "Do it for her" sign at his station

At least the episode tries to go back to a more traditional story which I was really missing the last seasons. Still a way to go back to good, but still a step in the right direction.

when listening to the episode, it seems like there was a michael keaton batman quote in the episode that homer said his interp of the line from batman "you want to get nuts, come on,lets get nuts" this was from the scene where homer and the crossing guards were in a arguement with police, ice, metermaids, tsa, neighborhood watch groups, homer's version of keaton's batman line in that episode is funny though they probably shouldve given homer a positive outcome to that arguement with those groups where one of the kids and marge had maybe helped him and helped those people realize that they can resolve their differences equally

can't wait for the next episode on 8 of October

hopefully the rest of the season will be like this maybe this could be were the simpsons revives.

I hate to be the guy to use the phrase “modern simpsons,” but for a modern simpsons episode it really wasn’t bad and felt…homey. Some of the jokes, writing and structure felt akin to a early/mid-2000’s episode. I hope we see more of it.

I watched the episode because the Otto Heavy Metal spoof made me think it was a Treehouse of Horror. Is that what all the new episodes are like now? Homer can't get one bit of Power with out going to far with it. Towns Crier - Gose overboard and to pushy. Body Guard- Used it to get favours and Lord over his Family. Safty Inspector - Gose a bit over Board with Signs everywhere. Krusty - Uses it to get favours get away with crimes and other Shenanigans. Food Critic - Starts off Good becomes a Jackass. Has a Gun - SHOOTS NEARLY EVERYTHING. And The Worst one in my Opinion being a Sanitation Commissioner - Over Spent Showed off and DESTROYED SPRINGFIELD. Imagine him becoming Mayor YIKES.

It's nice that season 30+ Marge and Homer are actually in love again (and turned on by each other): the countless "marriage in crisis" episodes of the teens seasons (early 2000s) got boring fast and felt like a cheap ratings stunt.
