He's so funny and has a great voice. I hope he'll give the outdoor tour sometime, or if they have already done it I look forward to finding it. He really is good with the camera work though. I have been homesteading for about 15 years. But haven't done too much canning. I did have some lovely relatives who showed me how to do it and how hard it is.

@@TheSeasonalHomestead These are the memories and experiences they'll always remember. What we put, place in their hearts is more important than what we put in their bank accounts. I grew up this way...where everything we ate, we grew ourselves. We were so young than, and from a different country. It was our way of life, and it's still for most of my family. The value of hard work, honesty, thriving on learning about canning, cooking, pruning..etc Not playing video games, and being on the internet at the age of 5 or 11, learning about stuff not suitable for these ages. We as kids learned the value of hard work, and eating the food we grew and planted with our tiny hands, it was such a cool thing at a young age, that it's still one of the things we do today as adults, and now our children. I am a product of learning from such a young age, that it's something my siblings and I do with our kids in 2022. Your beautiful children will do the same with theirs. And you'll be proud. I see the feeling of fulfillment and proudness in my parents. Because we kept this tradition going. You will too.

You need a proper summer kitchen which is a separate building with wash tubs and a gas stove for canning, a brick bread oven for drying food, making bread and pizza. Our cold cellar was underneath with it's entrance being a door in the summer kitchen floor (inside is better in winter and rain). My grandmother had quartz and marble slabs in her cold room/pantry that she would keep butter, cheese and eggs on. Lots of English and Europeans had summer kitchens - it would be a game changer for you. Put your squash in nets or slatted shelves so the air moves underneath. You are doing amazing. Thanks for the memories :)

Exposing nuts and oily seed kernels (like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds, etc.) to light by taking them out of their shells for storage, makes their beneficial fats break down very quickly and become useless in a matter of days. Always store nuts and seeds in the shell. They're super protected from light for a reason. Good luck xx

A raised bed at a height comfortable to you would be a good start! My friend in a wheel chair grows many things but is heading more towards raised beds now.

Omg I'm truly inspired!! As soon as I seen the video I instantly clicked and subscribed! I love the fact that you're showing and telling about your pantry you started from scratch and where you purchased your produce. It just works perfectly for me cuz that's where my life is at rn and I'm sorta just trynna figure out what I should start stalking up on first to build on. Your video was the golden ticket for someone moving into a new home, thank you!

What an amazing pantry. Thanks for the tour. I’ve just started canning and am looking for storage ideas. I live in a small apartment so not much storage space but I’ll figure it out. I love canning!

I was always told never to store apples near onions because the onions will shorten the life of the apples. Not sure if you have ever heard that or if it is an old wise tale. Awesome cold room design too!

WOW! Have you thought about an "above ground" root cellar? As in a shipping container on the ground but covered with fill dirt? (Beautiful house, btw)

Loved seeing the pantry tour. Have you tried drying garlic scapes and grinding to a powder? It’s lovely green garlicky goodness.

Very nice pantry start. I love your organization. However, please look into storing your higher ethylene producing fruit and vegetables away from the more sensitive ones. You will find things will last much longer. Great job!
