He threw a hissy fit because he didn't want to wear the harlequin clothes and he ended up transforming to them anyway.

If the queen hadn't forced Jack in to a dress, this entire mess could have been avoided.

Its absolutely criminal that barely anybody has pointed out the incredible irony in the fact that Jack's entire rampage started from not wanting to wear a hat...only for him to put on the ring and have *an even gaudier hat become fused into him as part of his body until he became Bec Noir*

So, all this crazy crap started because jack didnt want to wear silly clothes?

Can we appreciate how all this started not because of Jack not wanting to wear clown- er, harlequin clothing, but actually because Dave sent Gamzee that ICP video? -Gamzee became enraged -Gamzee used his chucklevoodoos to create a harlequin jack doll in John's Prospit room, giving him night terrors -John drew all over his walls from the clown nightmares -John's father thought this meant he liked harlequins, covering the house with them and even getting him a huge harlequin plush for his birthday. -This harlequin plush, which would not have been in John's house at all if not for Gamzee's influence, became prototyped, making Harlequin clothing a factor of imps and other dersites -Jack wouldn't have had to wear the clothes at all if not for Gamzee.

This, this flash is it. I think this is the point where Homestuck truly begins. Where the story stops being merely unique and interesting and turns into something mindblowing unlike almost anything else I've seen. This flash is what makes me think the best description for Homestuck is "4 kids play a game. And then it all goes to shit"

Ok so, let me get this straight. Jack Noir killed BQ because he didn't like the clown clothes, then stole the ring. After using the ring, he went on a rampage, putting the game into an unwinnable state. The kids decide to initiate the scratch, but also displace Bec Noir into the troll's session. The trolls flee to the meteors, after Terezi's meddling, they begin talking to the kids. Although it was ultimately through Lil' Cal's influence, Gamzee goes crazy from Dave revealing that his religion is mocked in the kids' universe. This leads to Gamzee chuckle voodoo'ing a Harlequin-esque Jack Noir doll into Dream John's room. This results in John scribbling self-demeaning clown pictures on his walls, hidden from him by Gamzee's influence. Dad Egbert sees these pictures, and decides to take an interest into Harlequins, to bond with John. In this gambit, Dad Egbert gifts John a huge Harlequin doll, which gets maimed in various ways, and later thrown into John's Kernelsprite. Upon entry, the Harlequin-ness causes the BQ to force everyone to wear Clown Cloths. All of this being masterminded by Lord English, through his underlings. Homestuck is......confusing

Just noticed now for the first time that Mom Lalonde fights the monster using Void powers, because of course she does.

Also, VERY early on in the story when John looks through his magic chest, and he comes upon Colonel Sassacres book, he mentions its big enough to kill a cat, which happened many years later to Roxy. Hussie is really amazing.

Some neat musical storytelling I noticed. After the cool intro, the "I'm a member of a Midnight Crew" vocal samples don't start until 1:16, after things start getting heated up between Jack and the Black Queen. They then stop at 1:28, for the cool transition with Rose and the Guardians, and don't start up again until, 1:57 where it returns to Jack and the Black Queen, and Jack kills her. The vocals literally signify the rise of Jack!

Jack: I hate these clothes 15 seconds later. Jack: Okay time to go to another universe and kill everyone again

It's nice to rewatch this and remember what I used to think was crazy in Homestuck, and compare it to the madness that's going on now!

the first rose and kanaya conversation was the point where i started to feel like this was going to actually be something special, but this was the moment i really got locked into homestuck and never looked back. jack ascend is such an important moment.

When Rose is staring at all the 'MEOW's.... the words for a brief moment change to say 'GCAT'. Christ almighty are you kidding me. How long ago was this animated? Hussy likes to plan ahead. edit: That or I'm an idiot who just didn't know what the letters 'GCAT' meant. Still a clever pun ;P

This is maybe my third favourite flash after Jade: enter. So damn epic and great actions, without which there would be no story and all crazy things that they had to go through. I love how Hussie doing his animations, how emotional and drive they are, almost all of them have a movement that does not bother, but only attracts attention. And music especially, they are so good and very well fit.

He put on the ring to become the 3x prototyped jack. All hell will soon br8k loose

This was the first homestuck flash I ever saw. And I remember thinking it was some weird compilation made by a fan because it was so erratic and basically had no idea what was going on. A couple of years later I finally read homestuck and when I got to this part I was like "Oh this is that thing I saw!" "...I still don't know what's going on."

One of My favorite Flashes so far. I love this. when I started reading Homestuck I didn't know it was going to be like THIS. The Music is awesome,and so is the animation. When I heard the "Make her a member of the midnight crew" at the beginning I was like "OH GOD I HAVE A FEELING THAT SHIT JUST GOT REAL".
