I used to make and sell mirrors picture frames wooden crosses using premixed tile grout. Spread it on first then place your medium into it and your pretty much done. I used shells, flat marbles, broken China for examples. It’s been ten years and my personal shell mirror is still going strong.

I'm just curious what was the point of heating the little beads and then the ice water they don't appear to look cracked they look the exact same as when they went in I'm just curious as I do like the final result

Back in the 70s we did the heat and ice water bit with whole marbles. We made jewelry with them. Lee Wards, the Michaels precursor, had ring shanks and earring findings made just for the marbles. It was such fun. 😊

We made these when I was a kid, using clear glass marbles. We called them Fried Marbles, because we would heat them in an iron skillet, then pour them into ice water.

The heat from the oven causes the glass to expand, so that when you dunk them in the ice water they contract rapidly which causes them to crack.

@@lilly3am b/c your life is more important than another? I’m not screaming, I’m alerting, not only the woman who made this video, who mentioned putting them in fish tanks/bowls, but everyone else who clearly doesn’t know. If you want to keep fish as “pets”, it’s best to use smooth, rounded stones. But you, & the 2 responses below yours are proof of that which I’ve known for decades-Unless something effects YOUR LIFE, it doesn’t matter. 3 of the same self serving, narcissistic fish, swimming in a tank full of glass gemstones.
