Please don't cut it in half!!! We raise one end of the log, raise the dump trailer all the way up, once the front of the log is over over the trailer lip, lower the trailer until it's angle is close to the log angle, then back up the trailer and/or push the log in. Once more of the log is within the trailer box, you're home free...

If you can get your dump trailer over by the log (looks like you can), then lift one end of the log and place it on the dump trailer. You then have 2 options. either push it in with the mini (if it can lift the one end up), or winch it in from your truck side. You'll have to mount the winch to the tongue of your trailer (temporarily with U bolts), and put something on the leading edge of your trailer to protect the cable (roller, or board) and then winch it into the trailer. Nice piece of wood, and it would be a shame to cut it in half to load it up.

Back the trailer up to the log and rope the log end. Take the rope to the front of your trailer where you’ll mount a pulley to an hold down. Pass the rope through the pulley and tie it to a tree behind the trailer. Use a sheet a plywood to ramp into your dump trailer as needed. Slowly pull the truck away and the log will load itself into the trailer. Stay clear of the rope and place a rug or heavy mat across it just in case it breaks.

Nice usage of the tree. Don't cut that butt log but if you can back you trailer to it and are able to tilt your trailer then lift the end and winch it on, and lower the trailer while winching you should be able to get it on the trailer. Stay safe.

Build a log arch for the back of your trailer. You move enough logs to make it worth it. Matt Cremona built one, as well as April Wilkerson and several others. Basically is an arch that hinges off the back and with a winch on the trailer, it will lift and load logs. Could easily be built to either unbolt completely or just be left on top when dealing with dirt or other material in the dump trailer so it wont limit the uses

Unlike you to end a video like that. On the huge log, get a winch attached to your dump trailer and winch it on. Use levers and roller logs to move it to the trailer. Use levers and blocks to get it high enough to push the trailer under as far as possible and winch the rest of the way on. A winch will be handy. With Doug's help you could make it a 2" receiver style removable winch. Weld or bolt to front floor of trailer. Harbor Freight has it all, 12k winch, boltable receiver and removable receiver winch plate. With trailer in full dump height you might be able to add some lift while pulling it straight on.

Hey Adam, thanks for the video, loved the drone footage! What a nice monster oak. If you want to add another tool to the collection you could split it down the middle with a chainsaw mill. Pros/Cons. The Pros would be that would allow you to work with smaller pieces but still have the full length, chainsaw mills are portable. The con is that you need another tool (if you don't have it already) for the guide, and a big enough saw head with a long enough bar to fit all the way through. You also need a straightedge like a ladder. Chainsaw milling is lot of work too, a lot more physical and lot slower than the bandsaw. All depends on the size logs you want to go after.

Was watching a Heli-logging show. When they needed to lighten a log for moving by helicopter, they would cut it lengthwise so at least it was still the same length. Depending on how you will use it, it may be an option.

If your tractor can lift one end of the log I would lift the end and if you can get to it back the dump trailer as far under as possible set it down then lift the other end and push it in. Might work I've done things like that hundreds of times and worked quite well. Just a thought. You might even tilt the bed a little and as you start to push it in start lowering the bed and that may also help.

When you go back out you should take them out a full dump Carol load a mixed hardwood and then take the oak back home for heating wood and may be. I wonder if neighbor Doug would take his kids. Dear out, you might have to cut that big log back to an even 10 foot 3 or something that you have a 10 foot piece to mill. But if he took your skid, steer out his skid stairs. She'll get it on your trailer and then you'll get one more additional piece of firewood out of it

Makes me want to plan some white oak trees now! All I have in my area is Red Oak and it is not any pretty as that looks!!! We did fell an ashe tree 2 years ago but by the time I had time, my brother had a coworker come and take the WHOLE tree less one limb. I was sad! What are your thoughts on using the 11' trunk log for? I know you have a mill and its not mobile but do you have an Alaskan mill? you could square it, slab it, third it into slabs to then use one of your pieces of machinery to pick it up. it would be a shame to cut that 11' in half since your could make some nice book matched tables. But the real question I have is... what are your plans for the log? I would say that what ever you want to do with them, you could use the different methods I mentioned above to help reduce the weight to allow your equipment to move them. Or get the earth work guy to come out with a big A excavator and drop it in your dump bed!!! Once it is home, you can process as you see fit.

Use geometry and physics. There's even a YT channel where a guy goes through figuring out how to calculate force multiplying with block & tackle rigging to exert greater force by using more runs of rope at appropriate angles to pull out larger and larger tree stumps with the same small tractor. If your excavator can pick up half then your raised trailer bed angle, plus a decent winch should get you the rest of the way with enough rope and geometry. Play safe.
