I had to know how much firewood a full dump trailer load of logs would make so we decided to cut split and stack one and see what the results said

I'm so glad you went through the trouble of processing that trailer load! I have a 14' dump trailer also, and I would have put money on that being less than 1.5 cords. Science!!! 😁👍

A split cord delivered and seasoned in my area is typically between 2-275 dollars. I had a guy bring me about a cord and a half for the price of one and I think I paid him 225 per load so 450 bucks for about 2.5-3 cords of real nice firewood. 4-500 for a cord of wood split is crazy. But different markets I guess. I’m in southern central area of NY btw.

Good morning Adam, nice episode, this experiment allows us to see the work involved in creating baskets of firewood from logs that are less than perfect for optimal processing. It seems like a lot of work for a less than optimal profit for the value added time spent. It also allows you to diversify and broaden your customer base and supply what some customers are interested in, with confidence of knowing the value you are offering to them. It all comes down to know your customers/market/ your product offerings. Smart business decision.☺️👍👍👍

They make logging tape measures that you can use to estimate the cordage of a log. It measures circumference and length. Pretty cool. Also those logs with weird grain and stuff have more BTU/cord so I'd say the trailer full isn't a bad deal.

You made me laugh about the heat. Starting in mid-June of this year, we had a bunch of severe Thunderstorms. It seemed like they were coming every 18 hours for a couple of weeks. So naturally, there was oak laying everywhere. For weeks I'd drive around my town with my saw and load my truck. (I also helped several old folks clean up their tarps in the process.) Then I rented a splitter in July and split it all over s weekend. June and July in Mississippi. Air Temps in the 90s with heat indexes of over 110°. I would be so sweaty that none of my clothes would be dry exactly like I had jumped in a pond. So I feel you. Anyway, this is a great video from a production standpoint. Your use of time-lapse, camera angles, background music, but also suspense makes for something quite entertaining.

Another good video, I would have assumed that it was also more than 1.5. Always enjoy your videos and your neighbor Doug’s videos. I remember many times through the years going into the woods and gathering wood for the winter. While we did not have wood splitters, as a teenager, I was the wood slitter, we did process a lot of wood annually for us and others in the community as a service. I got a kick out of your measuring and painting your cut lines. We always used the bar as a measuring tool, after so much, we knew exactly what length we were getting by where it measured on the bar, turning the chainsaw sideway.

It's funny, because I was ridiculed for saying I would pay $300 for it. 1st I am getting clean wood and you pick good logs. 2nd - the wood was cured and ready to burn. 3rd and foremost - I knew it would be more than a full cord. Major savings and you stated you would deliver it -come on! I have a saw and log splitter - so I would be good to go. Of course, I know delivery to Michigan is out of the question - LOL! Great video - it was kind of cool to see you processing it old school again. Fun! Another - thing - it is your fault that I went out and bought a splitter. Watching your channel, I just had to get out and experience the fun of it all! Thanks! LOL!
