Nice splitter and I love the box wedge design you highlighted in another video. I own a Wolferidge 35 Ton SHO with the box and love it though yours seems to create less of a mess. They are sending me a 12x wedge soon which I'm excited about. The funning thing is, as impressive as yours and mine are, my dads 1981 homemade splitter is still my favorite! I'll never part with that one.

I loved you showing how the six way wedge worked.You know they have a wedge that works on the bottom part of the piece only. and makes handling of the heavy wood alot easier. Anyways a very educational video. Keep up the good work.

Great video Adam. It looked like a beautiful day to be outdoors. That splitter is fantastic and I reckon you will reach your limit before the splitter does. Any round over 26" I cut in half with the chainsaw becsuse I find its quicker to get the 2 halves split than trying to manhandle the big round. If they sold Easton splitters down here I would buy one . Adam from my family to yours I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.

Great video Adam! When I get a big one stuck I smack it with a sledgehammer, few hits usually does it. It would be nice to have a helper to catch the big ones falling off. Makes it tough picking them back up. Thanks for sharing

I have a TimberWolf log splitter which is similar to this model. Whenever I get it stuck splitting big rounds, I take a split piece of firewood and place it virtually (like a post) behind the log by the push; I then try and split again, sometimes moving the piece around after each attempt. With this technique I can usually split any piece within a 1-3 attempts. This trick works by changing the location and amount of force applied.

That was a heck of a piece of wood to split. Nice job and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Adam, that's why I keep a Champion vertical & horizontal around. I saw Andrew try it on the Axis, he did it. But it wasn't pretty. Growing up we went cutting every year. My Dad and several of his brothers got together and filled 4 2 ton dump trucks and several pickups in one day with split and stacked in the truck oak and hickory. My uncle had a" lickety log splitter" he modified with an 18 inch wedge and a bigger cylinder and he kept the blade sharp... I remember one time he put a 3 way knot that size on it. It grunted and groaned as it literally cut it's way thru it. I hated it then, happy memories now.

Nice video Adam, that eastonmade splitter is a beautiful machine I myself have a 12-22 and could not be happier with it. The guys that build them are of the same quality as the machine, great company. Have you had any experience with the box wedge and draw back arm? I use it on the massive rounds as well, pieces come out nice and uniform and the draw back arm avoids having to constantly pick up the massive pieces that fall of the catch pan. You get four pieces each push but you save all kinds of time by not having to pick everything up again and can cycle way faster. Great option and well worth it so you can maximize the wood you have in the yard. Check it out if you haven't seen it Jay

Good day! That splitter is pretty impressive - not often we are splitting 30"+ rounds so I wouldn't be too worried or concerned about it getting stopped in a round that large. Got it out easily and it kept on splitting. Great video. Love the easily changeable 4 and 6 way wedges. Merry Christmas and congrats on the 5K!

Nice straight grained wood--easy to split even if it is large diameter. A copy (with some changes) of the old Built Rite machines.

Great video Adam...those big pieces sure do break down into a lot of pieces don't they! I split somewhat smaller as well and it always amazes me how much can come out of just a few big rounds. Good lookin stacks ya got going there too! 👍

I love my Eastonmade splitter. We split the 30" Oak all the time. A good tip is the dont let the push block shove it off the tray and then you can use the spliter adjustment to lift it back onto the lift table. The bigger the wood the less bark in the piles. Bark holds moisture and dirt.

If they stagger the six way wedge wedge faces, it should allow the splitter to handle larger pieces. If faces 1and 2 are an inch ofset from faces 3 and 4 which are offset 1 inch from faces 5 and 6. As a log goes through, the first two faces have started splitting when faces 3 and 4 just touch the wood and 5 and 6 are not in contact yet so it helps the machine handle more.

We have the 12-22 as well. The box wedge is what you need to produce large amounts of consistent sized fireword. I run about 15,000 bundles a year through the box wedge.... I find the 6 way wedge works best on the 8 to 12 inch rounds I one quick push, but anything large it's easier to stick with the box wedge. Large crotch and knotty pine will cause the box wedge to jam up, and I have actually had to cut a round off the splitter before... ( Very large knot about 6" into a 40" diam pine). The box wedge does leave a lot more debris however..

Nice splitter. only thing i see. raise that wedge to hit the center or near there of those monster pieces, that way it can split it more equal, and you not have such big stuff to wrestle around, and for sure you can catch and return the top piece for re split, those 2 little pieces you get off the bottom split to size are not worth the trouble you cause yourself.

We had Eastonmade custom built a 28" tall 4 way wedge that works great

Adam. Do you have a single vertical wedge to go on the machine? Maybe with the really big rounds, just split in half first and not let them fall off to keep from lifting them again and keep the big chunks on the lift side. That is similar to what you are doing with the four way. You could use it and split first right down the middle and work with the four quarters?

OK I've been watching these Easton Made splitter videos for a while and a guy I know is having one delivered in March 2020. I need to split 26" to 30 " long pieces for my Alternate Energy gasification wood boiler. I'm using an American brand right now that is a beast with a log lift. Nothing and I mean nothing stops my piston and it weighs 1,100 lbs. Towable from both ends, flush to pusher height table which lets you slide the big pieces back easy (that was my design). 11 inch high spliting wedge with drop on 4 way. If this Easton can do 30 " inch pieces for my boiler and convert to a box splitter for the bundled short wood we sell at my store combined with the cycle time I will buy one. Can't wait to see my friends unit up close in March. These guys seem to have thought of most everything and the cycle time is the huge advantage over the American I'm using. Great video but the length is what defines the sack of a true splitter. Diameter is nothing compared to the length of the piece being split.Looks really well made compared to most other units out there. I'll pick his apart when it shows up and get back on here with my worthless opinion.

Even though that started to split with the 6 way the top split went at an angle and I think the eye loop on top got in the way of the splitting process more so than the lower wedges.

You would enjoy a box wedge on large rounds like that. Big splits don't fall off the splitter.

Adam... gotta love them big rounds!😆 they do have a benefit as you seen first hand, there is a lot of wood in them. My next few sentences are gonna draw some heat but I’m calling it like I know it cause I’ve used both...commercial dedicated vertical splitters handle big pieces like this with much less effort and faster. I myself am more partial to the horizontal as I have a modified commercial made splitter that I’ve put up against a cloned commercial vertical. On

That's a nice splitter. Try Pin Oak on it. That stuff is PINNED together. I don't use a hydraulic splitter much. This past weekend was the first time I mounted my homemade skid steer splitter this season. That was only for elm. What awful stuff. I have OWB, so mostly just split enough to make it easy to load it. The Fiskars splitting maul is usually adequate. I usually cut 24-30" long. 10-12 cord a year.
