I got it as a gift. Worst game I have played in a while. Souless with the most idiotic plot ever!

The animatics from the previous games were perfect. There was no reason to change them. The game feels like it's taking one step forward and one step back. I love the space terrain and having all those megastructures actually on the game map whereas in the previous games they were only in the background. But they made the maps too restricted. The maps should be bigger and give you more room to fly around those megastructures instead of boxing you into them.

As a fan from 1999 : All previous titles had stronger story, in fact they all had a decent enough story( presentation was not an issue here for me) Hw3 story just is boring and has poorly written villain Hw, Hw2, Cata all were slower games with bigger maps which made HW very distinct from other rts In HW3: Resourcing was automated Angle of attack does not mean anything Pathfinding not always works, Subsystems abolished( that's a major flaw) Maps seem small Overall this game aint worth £35 I paid, this should be an optional £17 story addon to HW2 Overall game lacks in something compared to all previous titles Lacks gameplay against HW2 Lacks story and map scale against HW1 Lacks sense of wonder and scale against HW: Cataclysm The goods: Nice graphics Nice music Little bugs On Hard gameplay is still good though even though dumbed down compared even to Cataclysm How would I rate each : Hw : 100% Cata: 90% Hw2: 90 % Dok: 80% Hw3 : 65 %

@@yovos6385 in my case it was assault frigs vs all fighters, ion cannons and torpedoes vs everything else and destroyers are ptetty much endgame ships which become main firepower in last 3 levels

been playing 6 hours so far after release lol, I have tried to see about resources pickups and i dont think it does unfortunately

Been watching this one of a while. Doesn't look like its worth $60 of my hard earned cash. Maybe on sale in a few years...but not for 15 hrs of gameplay.

i should not have bought it , i paid for 1 year pas and game and manuel haha 80£ not worth it . done the story in 13 hours other players have done it under 8 hours, so it just a money grab, feel more like a demo as some one else stated ...

@@clubjrgaming2610 None of the games were all that long campaign wise, RTS games the majority of peoples game time is in skirmish mode. That said this game is 3 steps back from the previous entries.

I'm actually so disappointed. I'm super grateful that they even tried to make another Homeworld again, but the atmosphere and minimalist storytelling really made the first two (especially HW1) amazing. On one hand, I don't want to buy it because it seems worse than the first two (until there are mods). On the other hand, I want to support the developers and I really hope that they try it again, taking feedback into account.

Seeing Hiigarans with generic Star Trek sci-fi uniforms and props feels wrong. Seeing Karan S'Jet with hair feels very wrong.

@@Kyle7565 Still feels wrong. All the characters feel "Americanified". Gone are the beautifully-drawn mysterious glimpses into unique quasi-tribal far future cultures, replaced with bog-standard HALO cutscenes. Gone are the cold, professional, and determined atmosphere befitting the only survivors of a planetary cataclysm, fighting for justice in the face of extinction, replaced with hollow angsty dialogue. The game feels like it shrunk. Scaled down. There's no feeling of vastness and awe that made the original so mesmerizing. Even Deserts of Kharak managed to preserve that. This doesn't. This game should feel like Dune. Instead it feels like Twilight.

I kinda get lost when you knock it by comparing to it Halo and then to twilight. The original Halo games are stories I have held in nearly as high regard as Homeworld for sci fi settings. Do you mean the 343 made Halo game? Of those, I have only ever played 4, and I didn’t like it.

@@Kyle7565 Halo as NEAR future sci-fi. Like only decades to at most, a couple of centuries away. The same aesthetic as franchises like Mass Effect, Starship Troopers, Avatar, Star Trek, Alien, etc. Hence bog-standard. High-tech but recognizably close to the modern day. I'm not knocking them, they're also among my favorites. Just that it's the WRONG aesthetic. Homeworld is set in either an alternate universe or the deep far future. Similar to franchises/series like Dune, Warframe, Riddick, The Culture, Revelation Space, etc. It's not even set in our galaxy. There shouldn't be anything instantly recognizable. You can see that in the lore and art direction in the original games. Their names, the architecture, their clothing, etc. Which are vaguely Near Eastern, but modified enough to hint at the passage of thousands of years. They don't even use the Latin alphabet or speak English, though they do still use Arabic numerals which hint at an Earth origin (there's a theory that the Progenitors were humans fleeing the Milky Way). Yet in here, they all look and sound like the United Nations Space Command in Halo or the Federation in Star Trek. Down to the uniforms, the briefing rooms, and the speeches.

@@Kyle7565 As for the Twilight comparison, just listen to her. She sounds angsty for no reason with the "I'm not good enough" pseudo-internal conflict, than the literal embodiment of a gigantic space-faring warship.

Im really conflicted. On one hand the fact that this game exists is a small miracle, on the other its really bad in couple major areas, The mistic and professional tone even in the face of extinction is gone, now we have engineers trowing jokes at commanding officers like its just another Thursday. Our main heroine is a little unstable kid that feels like is trying very had to have an arc. Game looks like hommeworld and sounds like it but plays like an esport wannabe rts, lacks many features that were groundbreaking 20 years ago and it feels like someone tried to self insert ego. Game itself has every single piece to be great, graphics, music, visual design, but fails everywhere else. If someone makes a Complex mod I will return to it but so far its not worth full price and fans attention.

Aye. The professional tone set the original homeworld apart... Not because it was u feeling, far from it... When Kharak is burning the VA's voice has a tinge of disbelief... But he still does his job to tell the player what is happening. They are a part of the world... But they never fail to do their job, which is extremely important... Then in HW:cataclysm we have people who are in over their head whose VA's are trying to hold it together that blossoms into a full blown rant at the Bentusi.

Gameplay was fun, but the maps felt too restrictive, and the writing felt so..one dimensional and infantilized. I mean, we have a queen navigator killing billions and throwing tantrums, and in the end we just forgive her, because she was lonely? Jesus Christ, who wrote this garbage?

The game have so many faults its hard to say whats worst. Story is horrible, campaign flow is not good, units don't follow orders, the missions themselves are well made, but to much story (did I say the story is BAD), maps are small, very small, controlls are worse than the former games, and on top Denuvo. Enjoy, this was the death of a great game series.

This game was a disaster on pre release for some of us with early access and the steam reviews are showing it, the game was poorly made, a part from graphics and sound, its a terribly made rts game.
