the biigest discovery here would be if they had really developed their own kind of intelligence, different brains, that would mean that in one planet, at least two different sets of sentient creatures existed. This would be the second best thing after freaking aliens!

humans are just one species, ut these individuals, from what they say in the video, developed separate into sentient creatures, from apes. That, would be a different species

He said that these little people were half our size and that's wrong. A human half our size, at about 3 feet tall is actually about 1/8 our size and weight. At half the height alone they would be super stocky and heavy boned and that wouldn't work. They are also half the width and half the thickness. Take a cube 4x4x4 = 64, and reduce only its height, to 4x4x2 and you have half the voumetric mass at 32. Reduce everything three dimensionally (2x2x2=8) and you'll have a person half the height, yes- but only 1/8 the mass.

It's a mystery given that homo floresiensis was a species that probably migrated out of africa and developed excellent sea navigating skills to even reach ancient southeast asia in the first place, but why they specifically confined themselves in flores island? Given that they had good excellent sea navigation skill, they could have just hopped from one island to another to find larger living resources if flores island had minimal resources which caused them to stay small.
@ExoditeDragon Жыл бұрын
Early on the video did suggest that Homo Erectus likely migrated to the area that would become Flores island during the last ice age, with a group becoming stranded and cut off once the glaciers receded and sea levels began to rise. Homo Erectus did not arrive by any form of seafaring navigation (and the video mentions they lacked the capacity for boat making), and likely made the journey through easily-traversable shallows. If Floresiensis was in fact an evolution of an isolated group of Erectus, then this sub-species was not in possession of any generational knowledge to navigate deeper waters and travel to other islands.

Ever heard of the encephalisation quotient? It makes perfect sense that a brain one third the size of ours, can do about the same job when it's in a creature approximately one third our size.

for a human specie to evolve, it requires hundreds of thousands of years or tens of thousands of generations. these experts theorized that floresiensis evolve into small creatures because they were confined in a snall island. if you are a hunter gatherer living in a small island, do you think your lineage could last that long with so limited resources? and don’t forget, this tiny island also have other inhabitans like dragons whose spit could kill!

As with a lot a species, we homo sapiens were probably the last nail in the coffin for the little people. As there is an account of them taking a baby and also being feared by the locals, they were probably hunted to extinction.

I was looking at the brain cast and noticed there weren't too many convolutions. Hardly any at all. It's generally believed, more convolutions, greater intelligence. And if I didn't know any better, it looked like a smooth brain syndrome brain (Lissencephaly).
@DaHuntsman13 жыл бұрын
Considering the brain itself decayed long before the cast even had a chance to get involved, and that the insides of the skull are smooth, there really is no way of telling how their brains might have actually looked bar hopping in a time machine and getting one. That is why we have to look at other bits of context, and we have evidence they were doing all the same things other human species were doing at the same time.

So if little people and regular size people lived on the same island why did regular size people grow normal size and little people stayed little?
@kennethsatria66076 жыл бұрын
Because Evolution doesn't work like that, plus the larger ones probably got there afterwards
@mikekatz79806 жыл бұрын
Well Sgt Morales if by "normal size" you mean the average size of modern humans it is a good question with a somewhat complicated answer. H.Floresiensis had developed the trait of being smaller than us, that was there evolutionary direction. It also helped them survive on the island for a period of time. There was likely some type of change to the environment or Homo Sapiens (us folks) possessed other traits that helped them survive on the island. We all know who won out in the end.
@fyoloswaggins52036 жыл бұрын
because the regular size people arrived much later and weren't isolated long enough to develop such a trait
I have stone carvings that had to be done with microscopes or tiny people. I have them but no way could a human make them. Found in old mud s could be drom before the ice age.

Well, it has been proven that we are not using a large part of our brains. So if you had a more efficiently built brain it might be possible to get a similar kind of intelligence in some ways, different in others.
