Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is located near Homosassa Springs, Florida, in the United States. The park is one of the notable locations in the state to view manatees. Visitors can get close to the animals on a floating observatory. Black bears, bobcats, white-tailed deer, American alligators, and river otters can also be seen in the park. The park is also home to the hippopotamus Lu, famously known for his performances in many movies for the past 40 years. The park is officially named Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in honor of Elmyra Felburn Schiller (1943 - 2009), a benefactor of the Florida state park system.
Boat Tours
Our boat tours transport visitors along Pepper Creek from the visitor center to the west entrance of the state park, weather permitting. Boat captains provide an introduction to the park and the Florida Park Service. Native wildlife is identified along the way.
Wildlife Viewing
Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park includes the Wildlife Walk and paved trails for wildlife viewing. The Wildlife Walk consists of elevated boardwalks that are accessible for strollers or visitors in wheelchairs. The boardwalk allows an elevated view of the natural habitats and provides rain shelters along the way. Unable to survive in the wild for various reasons, the park’s captive wildlife are ambassadors for their species, promoting conservation through education.
The Fishbowl underwater observatory floats in the main spring and allows an up-close view of the spring and the fish and manatees that swim by. A live-feed television screen is located on the sundeck, allowing visitors to view fish and manatees from an underwater perspective.

Such a nice wild place. :) I've never visited Florida so this is so lovely to see. I adore Lu the Hippo! The birds are just phenomenal, too! Tom, your excitement and care toward the animals is so sweet! I'm so glad you said around one hour and seven minutes that to the fish, "We're the zoo." :) The carved murals are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this lovely park!

Well Florida doesn't have any native monkeys. They only have Florida wildlife, except the Hippocampus of course.
