I remember the Vigor always showing at the top of Consumer Reviews. It was the car all the doctor's wives were driving in the early 90s. I always wanted to own a Vigor. I loved the wood dash trim and leather interior.

Fun fact The Canadian GS trim came with heated seats and heated mirrors while the US version didn’t! The GS trim was the trim to get because the LS trim is too similar to the accord

Still seems to happen here on new cars! I believe it was the same for the Accord EX-R versus the EX in the US when it came to the mirrors and seats.

These Accords are special, once you own one you understand. Even today I'm still looking for one, saw a decent 93 SE a couple weeks back in my area on the road. Ideally I'd still like to find an EX-R Wagon in good shape and hold onto it forever.

Ya I totally get that! I want a wagon as well I like the kouki front bumpers and trunks so that's one reason the wagons are cool is all the tails resemble kouki model tail lights haha but I have two sedans one gold auto 91 lx with 213 thousand miles no cel codes working ac 75% tires and no rust made in Japan a couple weeks ago for 300 dollars it needs some work fissure but as is now would work for a while, and my daily car which is a 93 ex kouki style I would prefer a 92 DX manual chassis to start with the weight reasons and simplicity of electronics.

I had a 1993 Accord SE. That car is fantastic. The Bose system is still better than many systems now with more speakers and the interior quality and design also feels better than many current vehicles. If I could find another SE in decent shape, I would guy it in a heartbeat.

I think the longitudinally placed engine allowed for 60 /40 front to back weight distribution in the Vigor. In 1991, that was unheard of for a 4 door sedan. Of course, only sporty drivers could notice the benefit of it. The drawback of that weirdly mounted engine maybe the much less back seat room. In fact, the smaller Accord had much more back seat room.

In 1990, I went as a kid to a Honda showroom and saw a Honda Accord EXR in black with tan interior. With its trim, orderly styling, aluminum wheels (not that common at the time), and its high level of finish quality, it was a truly beautiful car. It was expensive in the Canadian market though. The price was $23,500. In those days, you could easily buy for less a larger, more comfortable American car with a V6 like an Oldsmobile 88 (which were very popular), or a Ford Taurus - appealing choices for family life and long road trips in the summer. To put things in context, and not to say they were comparable, but a Ford Tempo was about $11,000 out the door. Canadians and the car market were different then. Entry level luxury did not exist as a concept. For many, the main focus was to get as much car for as little as possible.
@PRNTestDrive
@PRNTestDrive 6 жыл бұрын
Definitely makes sense! We had hoped to find the MSRPs for these vehicles in Canadian dollars, however Honda Canada's press website was pretty limited, whereas the US has quite a lot of documentation on the CB7 Accord and Acura Vigor, which is why we went with the US prices for these. It's funny, but I almost bought an Olds 88 as my first car, it was pretty interesting to drive! We find older cars like these Hondas have serious soul, but newer ones not so much. Not sure if we're alone in that thinking.

I have a cb and spent some good time with a Vigor I picked up for a friend some time ago. No question the cb is more practical but I found the Vigor to be a LOT more sporty. Where the cb is soft and numb, the Vigor felt way more stiff and sporty, almost European like. I really liked that car and how stable it felt. The engine note and the power were incredible bonuses. The one I drove was that signature metallic green with the burnt orange leather interior, it was a gorgeous car for sure. The DSP oem stereo was pretty futuristic as well. I love my cb after having owned it for nearly 13 years but the Vigor was by far the superior driving car and had a nice quality interior.

I miss when this Vigor was good, the engine was really fun and definitely had that sportier feel to it. There's one for sale out here, same colour but in GS form but there's some mechanical issues with it. Even at the rock bottom price I can't budget it in, but I'd love to find one and fix it up.

You have a point about the vigor but that engine is unique because it’s Hondas only production inline 5 and the only other company’s that made gas inline 5s where Volvo, Audi and vw .if you ever heard a ttrs or rs3 modified or a Volvo it sounds very similar to a V10 from a Lamborghini or a dodge viper a turbocharged version of this engine would sound like nothing else Honda has built outside of there f1 v12 and v10 engines. If I am correct in the late 90s Honda put the g25a2 in the Acura TL 2.5 is that car more common than the vigor ?

Vigor was right in between Accord and the Legend ! Did the VIGOR has slightly better handling than the 91-93 or 94-97 Accord ? Or about the same ? Looking at the specs the i-5 2.5 has 6 hp more and 5 extra torque vs the 96-97 V6 2.7 Accord. Both - autos - about the same weight although Vigor was 5' longer . But VIGOR has 0.5 sec advantage over the ACCORD V6 in 0-60 as well as for 1/4 mile according to official info But I wonder about the handling .

The Vigor should have handled better new when compared to the Accord, although that engine was a lot heavier, and might have thrown off the weight balance a bit. Would be a lot of fun to find two of these again in showroom condition to see how they would have been new.
