This motorcycle has a huge alternator compared to its size.... It puts more than 120watt on idle. You can hook heated grip and vest without draining the battery.

On my 2022 Honda ADV 150 my fuel pump died at 3,000 miles. after reg 1 yr factory warranty expired🫣. In shop for about a month waiting for parts and installation. Cost would have been over $1,000, but luckily I purchased the extra warranty with my bike and it covered all cost.👍 Run better now all around😀

For my ‘22 Zuma, I started off with an Airhawk over the front seat & sat half on that and the pillion with my feet on rear pegs thst I dropped down 5-6 inches with Kuryakyns. I eventually took the seat to a custom seat guy SE of Columbus who shaved off the pillion, inserted a gel pad fir where I sat then covered it back up with black, fake gator skin.

I also have an ADV150 so this was an interesting video. I do have a comment on plugging a tire. I have plugged numerous tires with the cheap sticky strings that you can buy a Walmart or any auto parts store. I have never had one leak. Every other type of plug I have tried has leaked. Get rid of that plug and go kit and get a Sticky string, rope or whatever they are called kit.

I just read the rules for the 2025 cannonball & found { 13" wheels maximum } Although I believe the rules haven't changed since 2012 Your bikes have a 13" rear & 14" front I'm guessing nobody really thought about it 🤔 .? So it's more of a "suggestion" in the wheel size category I'm guessing .. Obviously a 15" front would track even better in the dirt sections { like what's on the XMax300 for example in a 14/15 combo ] I'm probably overthinking this Certainly appears you guys had a great pair of scoots for the task, nicely done 👍
@scootertailwind
@scootertailwind 9 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comments! The rules for scooters in the 150-300cc range say they must satisfy at least three of the five criteria listed. The ADV150 meets four of the five, with the 14” front being the only reason it doesn’t meet all five.

It runs better than ever now,not being sluggish at start ups. I was thinking of trading up to a ADV 350 when ever available,but not now. I definitely have more power pulling hills also. Thank you so much for this video. As someone who is contemplating an ADV purchase in the spring and a SCR attempt next year, it’s a huge help. One question I have is if you were doing it again as you mention in the video, would you forgo a top case all together, or use something smaller from Givi or another vendor?
@scootertailwind
@scootertailwind 5 ай бұрын
I have a small Givi topbox also so I'd probably use that, forcing myself to bring less stuff. Or I'd forgo the Givi and use a drybag. A drybag would make it easy to tote clothes and toiletries between bike and hotel room. I like the security and convenience of the Givi topboxes though.

I have a '22 ADV 150 and I'm really not happy with the amount of light that is cast by the headlights when riding at night. I've been considering additional lighting, so I find your add-on LEDs interesting. I've checked the link provided and it's not clear to me how you mounted them. Did you have to purchase the bar clamps along with the wiring harness? Were the lights just what you needed or would you go with something different if you had to do it again? Or have you driven enough after dark to make that assessment? Finally, I've wondered about wiring accessory LEDs directly to the high beam wires so that the lights are activated only when you switch to high beams. Of course, you could also wire to the low beams if the lumens are low enough and most of your driving is in urban and suburban areas. If wired this way, there wouldn't be any draw to your battery until the bike was operating and then only when the targeted headlight was on. The LEDs are low enough amperage usually so that the fuses are not taxed; although I haven't checked the fuse yet that feeds the headlights. I wired accessory lighting for a compact tractor this way and have had no issues. Your thoughts/recommendations/comments would be much appreciated. Thank you! Liked and subbed.

We used the existing reflector brackets on the forks. Simply removed the reflectors and used the brackets for the lights. It worked great with the hardware that was supplied with the lights, we didn't need any additional hardware. We did not ride much at night, but they definitely help with visibility. My main goal was to improve our visibility to other drivers, and I think the lights definitely help in that way, they are very visible to others. We wanted the lights on at all times, which is why we used the Healtech Thunderbox for wiring them. I think either of your solutions would work depending on your preference. I would not change anything if I were to do this again. Thanks for your comments and compliments!

For riding each of us took two long sleeve Smartwool merino wool shirts, three pairs of boxer-style underwear, and two pairs of Darn Tough merino wool socks. Off-the-bike clothes were two short sleeve Smartwool merino wool shirts, two other shirts, two pairs of shorts, two pairs of underwear, and Teva sandals. Two bras also, and a swimsuit. The merino wool shirts and socks can be worn repeatedly without washing or stinking. We did wash underwear and socks in the sink once on the way. We hauled the bikes in a U-Haul to the start. Rode home to Austin from Hilton Head.

@@scootertailwind out of curiosity, would the same hold true for the new (in USA) '23 ADV 160? I have the 150 and am toying with the idea of upgrading to the 160. In general we like Honda motorcycles, and we liked the physical size of the scooter and the riding position. It feels bigger than it is, in a good way, it isn't cramped. Honestly, more comfortable to ride long distance than my 2012 Honda NC700x, which is shocking to me. And the red color is amazing! These are our first scooters, we looked at Vespa, Sym, Honda Forza 250, Honda PCX150, and had a chance to buy a Yamaha SMax. SMax too cramped, PCX had a less comfortable riding position, Forza too long, Vespa too pricey. I would have considered a Suzuki Burgman 200 but couldn't find one anywhere nearby when I was shopping.
