Really good review, you picked up ok a lot that of areas that others did not. The only issues not covered in this but maybe you will in your long term review when that happens, is the back of the rear seats aren’t solid. Fabric covers some big gaps and this causes problems with loading boxes and the corners snagging on the gaps. Also the clever rear parcel cover doesn’t dampen road noise like a solid parcel shelf does.

Thanks for the insights! Really looking forward to getting mine in the Advance Trim, only thing that I would've liked would've been ventilated seats. I ordered my new Civic back in October, and it was already obvious back then that it will take a while for it to be delivered (was told it would be March-June, but no word about it being delivered yet). I'm not in a rush though, I'm daily driving the new Civic's great grandfather for now, a 1985 Honda Civic Wagon, which will get some well deserved rest once the new Civic is here (will be keeping both of them). Not worried about road noise too much, as the old 85 Civic has the same noise level inside whether the window is up or down while driving, so it will be way better anyhow. I doubt the new Civic will last as long as the one I drive now, but we'll see.

But your local independent garage will hate the complexity compared to a normal petrol or diesel car. Buy one, run it for a couple of years and move it on.
@repit5014
@repit5014 5 ай бұрын
@@quietenglishman4179what complexity do you mean? The drive train is really not that complicated, there is not even a gearbox. What is likely to break? EM and generators are really not likely to break, the petrol engine should also be pretty damn reliable, running in the sweetspot most time. The friction brakes will get less wear because of regen braking too. I assume that the battery will have to replaced at some time for long term users, but it seems to be well set to be very reliable for a long time apart from that. I plan on keeping mine for 15y +

Talking to the owners of two local independent garages I use (who can afford main dealer prices once their cars get a few years old?) they're having a torrid time with the new influx of hybrid vehicles which are very different to conventional diesel and petrol cars. Perhaps they'll get used to them in time, I don't know. I keep my cars for years as well, which was the plan when I bought an eight year old Civic diesel last year. All the best keeping yours on the road at reasonable cost.@@repit5014

Holy crap! I drive an F20 118d now and I'm kind of glancing at the Civic and my other option is also a 330e!!! 330e is about 60k and the Civic is just under 50k here in Ireland so it's not a massive difference. I think the Civic defo beats the F40 in the looks department (only a mother would love the F40 lol). I rented an F40 118i this year on a trip and despite it being a FWD (vs the F20), a rough 1.5 three cylinder, and ugly as hell, I was quite impressed about how it drove. I wonder how Civic handles against the F40 on a twisty road... I'm really tempted by the Civic!!!

I am shocked that this is the only option available for the new Civic!! They took away the last generation which was very good and affordable, which we could buy until a month ago, and replaced it with an automatic only hybrid, which costs nearly double the price here!! The 1.0L and 1.5L manual tenth generation were actually perfect for most people looking for a family car, but this isn't! The "old" Civic started at less than €25,000 here, but this one starts at €47,000!! - it's hardly an affordable family car anymore, when who wants to drive a stupid heavy hybrid automatic?! 😯😂🩲🦨🚗 . While of course the Type R is manual petrol and non hybrid, but it'll probably be €80,000 here if they even sell it, when the last one cost €60,000+, when the likes of Carwow already bemoaned the fact that it's £12,000 dearer than the old model... IF this new car was available with a non hybrid engine and a manual gearbox for less than €30,000, it might have a place in the market, but as it is no chance! And while I wouldn't touch an EV with a bargepole, the Tesla model 3 has come down in price twice recently, starting at around €60,000 a few months ago, but it now starts at €43,000, so if this one drives like an EV, why not buy a silly EV instead?! 😯 Wow, Honda have really screwed up with this! 😂🩲 .
