Күн бұрын2005 Honda CR-V 2.4L Engine. Timing chain and VCT Actuator replacement. This vehicle was experiencing a rattle on cold start. You are able to hear it in the beginning of the video. It is the VCT actuator making this noise but its good measure to replace the chain and components as well although not necessary.

Really nice step-by-step video. Good tips. And good fix... my Element has the same but with 249k on it I may have oil pressure issues as well. Did you replace oil pump chain too? Any advice would be appreciated. It was throwing p2646 so changed oil/filter and installed clone spool valve. Ok for a few days then threw p2647... actuator stuck on. Step 1, of course, is buying a Honda OE spool valve (so much for being a cheapskate)... any further recommendations?

I am setting up to do this repair in addition to installing a new water pump. I would like to ask you what manufacture would you suggest that I purchase the timing belt and Tensioner from, I know the guides don't matter as much.

2010 crv rattles on cold start and continuously rattles when driving could it be the chain?

From what I have read online and after watching several videos, the rattling would be your chain making contact w/ the cover but it’s not necessarily the chain that is the issue. The issue would be your vtc actuator due to a possible broken tooth on the sprocket causing the chain to jump and miss timing.

However, another issue could be that your timing chain is stretched and that happens over time, if I’m not mistaken.

@jacobgarcia3374 yeah that was my fear is doing the actuator n the seals then it not be that And have to do the chain as well. 1 thing I will note is it burns an insane amount of oil more than 1 qt per 1000 miles. Not sure if that helps narrow down the issue towards the actuator

@jacobgarcia3374 if it has low oil it rattles non stop but if I put a quart or 2 is only on start up

If you change your oil over 3k miles. The 5k oil change in these gunk up the lock pin quicker. Mine hasn’t acted up at all since replacing over 160k miles ago

How do you get the engine mount bracket off of the timing cover? The bolts hit a wall

You don’t show nothing how to used the tools to hold the craftnchaw to loose the screw of craftn shaft
Small mistake makes a huge problem. Can the CAR WIZARD save a '07 Honda CRV? AND 2 Mint SL Mercedes!
