In this video i will be doing a detailed diy tutorial on replacing the all 8 iridium spark plugs of Honda Fit/Jazz Gp1 model.
i have included full recording of reaching the inner 4 plugs by removing the engine back covered panels making access to the unreachable back of the gp1 I-dsi engine.
*please feel free to ask any questions.
*please note that im not a mechanic and i do this as a hobby and i intended to do this video to help guys like me who would like to do some work on there vehicle just for the fun of it.
*This tutorial is for people with least some knowledge car mechanisms and for those know what they are doing and i wont be responsible for any mistakes or damages caused while doing this and do it at your own risk..

My mechanic was a real pain in the ass for this. He kept giving lame excuses to not do it. Turn out he didnt want to do all this process just for spark plugs. Finally did it myself

Hi Thanks you for great detailed video. I've quick question. I have the same car 2012 model. How regularly I should do a engine tune-up and what things I needs to pay attention more. I checked with one of the mechanic and didn't clearly mentioned what parts will be checked/cleaned etc. Only thing he mentioned that since my car has done only 90000KM probably I don't need to replace plus but just clean them. is it safe/good ?
@skonemotorstudio4424
@skonemotorstudio4424 Жыл бұрын
Hi Isuru. basically a tune up means cleaning the plugs then cleaning the throttle body, and then cleaning the EGR valve and the 4 EFI nozzles.so this depend on the fuel we get and as you know what we have is pretty bad and the system gets contaminated quite fast. so usually a proper tuneup every 30k kms would be good for engine performance and fuel consumption. same time when you notice a reduction in power, kmpl, that would be sign to do a tuneup. other than that what i would advise is do the oil change every 5000 and use a non sludge forming oil like Toyota 10W30 (good for our climate and temp and engine will last longer) with genuine honda oil filter. Do the CVT oil change every 30000kms (make sure to use genuine HMMF nothing else, as this economic situation i was told gp1 gearboxes are hard to find). Get you air filter cleaned as often you can that will help you to use the filter long time and u wont lose power and kmpl. dont let anyone wash your engine!!no matter what anyone says washing the engine will ruin electronics and some have to replace the radiator fans prematurely ! keep you front AC condenser washed and clean and also the AC cabin filter clean trust me its been 6 years and 155kms (traveled all over the country) now and i haven't even recharged AC gas on my car or ever had AC problem! oh and the original front brake pads should last 80-90k or more rear will last loonger, and also make sure to drain and replace you brake fluid if its dark and discolored. Abt your Question abt the plugs,the 8 Iridium plugs in gp1 can last for almost 125-130kms (if they are originals) and these plugs are self cleaning and not adjustable, But! if you find them to be dirty with carbon deposits cleaning them should only be don't with carburetor spray and with medium bristle toothbrush! do not use sandpaper or metal brush etc as the iridium tips will get damaged, two things to keep in mind i hope you millage is genuine so then see if your plugs are genuine and secondly see if your car is not in the oil burning recall chassis range. usually if its in that range plugs starts to go bad around 80k kms. SO the gp1 is very reliable car if you take care of it. always go to trusted mechanic. hmm what else ah since you are in 90k range ill give you a heads up on few things to watch out that may time to replace, first is the IPU module fan AKA hybrid battery unit cooling fan, sometimes one or two O2 sensors can fail, sometime the EGR valve can fail(also cleaning the egr valve will help with that sudden jerk at pickup).. anything else you need to know feel free to ask.

hello mate, thank u so much for amazing video . really it is very hard to change Honda jazz spark plugs ! I have a question : I have a Honda jazz 2013 petrol - automatic with 57000 mileage .do u recommended I change the spark plugs ? and what is the benefits of the iridium to normal sparks ? and another question is : when I am stop behind the traffic light and waiting for green light , sometime engine start shaking for 1 or 2 second . do u know what is the problem ? i had before another jazz and it was same ! another question is : accelerating of Honda jazz is slow ? many cars after green light flying but my jazz is very lazy ! I must tell u I use v -power petrol I change every 6 month oil and oil filter . I change air filter . I clean air sensor and EGR - I use injector cleaner . I change fuel filter as well . i change CVT oil too and even update the software. but still I think my car is very lazy ! is it normal for jazz ??? thank and sorry I take your time ..

Hi mehr... thanks for the view and message.. well to answer your questions one by one. i assume you have a non hybrid model as u have said its petrol. on that assumption regarding the plugs. well usually ur car should have iridium plugs already on it. well just check and see anyway. well the difference between the normal platinum and the iridium is basically performance and life. iridium plugs produce a optimum spark to ignite the fuel and results in better fuel consumption and power. and a iridium plug should last at least 130000km give or take with on time maintenance of the engine, where a platinum should be good enough for maybe 40000kms max. abt the engine shaking rattle in idle while in traffic. this can be for many reasons. could be u need to clean the efi nozzles, could be a bad coil, could be dirt in the tank causing block in the filter/pump so many reasons. but with experience i can say i had similar situation with a bad oxygen sensor. best is to do a proper scan by professional workshop. Regarding the acceleration in your car, yup the CVT gear box has a noticeable lag in pickup. specially the non hybrid fit/jazz not having the ima assist does have very poor pickup unlike the GP1 Hybrid model. if you really need little more power look for Ecu program (chip) place in you country. and generally the fit/jazz is city car with basic performance so we cant expect good power. But the hybrid version can produce abt 100 bhp combined (engine+motor) and this model can takedown lot of competition lol.(im saying with experience). Ok about your maintenance routine. it should be like this. [ ] oil and oil filter - every 5000kms or in every 6months(i use genuine honda filter with toyota 10W30 and engine is reliable as ever from day one and ive done 139000 kms and still the car is as day one) [ ] air filter - if u clean it with air regularly you can make it last for 15000kms which saves u money. [ ] Dont use injector cleaner regularly, everytime you use injector cleaner you ecu start reading difference in fuel mixture and start collecting new data. this will effect overall performance and etc.this will cause power lags etc. so instead you can use octane boosters that will give you little more power and efficiency. [ ] CVT oil - this usually is changed in every 30000 km cycles. changing in short cycles are good but only if u have money to waste. [ ] the Fuel filter - this usually is inside petrol tank with the fuel pump and a good mechanic will clean replace it as its enough. this is usually done along with when you do the efi and throttle body cleanup maybe in 15000km cycles (depending on qualifications of your country fuel) hope i answered all your questions. feel free to ask anything i missed. cheers

@@skonemotorstudio4424 Hi, thank you sooooo much for replay, sorry I cant replay soon , these days i am very busy. u told I am not mechanic and this job is just hobby ! but I think u r professional mechanic or maybe u r car engineer ! u know to much about car. anyway, u answer everything perfect :) and soon I will buy honda jazz 2020 hybrid ! ( second hand ) from honda company. just a problem I forget ask u : when my fuel go down and it is near finish ( about 15 litter ) I feel my car power going down ! and when I do petrol full , car work better and powerful ! I change fuel filter . but I am little worry about fuel pump . do u think it has problem ? again thank u very much :) and plz upload more videos about car :)

hi mehr.. thanks for the good comments, no seriously im not a pro mech believe me.. i think im in the wrong career everyone tells me.. anyway abt the new question, i think if you noticed the full tank difference definitely it should be the pump. when tank is full the density pressure must be helpful for the pump to push more fuel to the engine and the ecu will calculate and give proper output when fuel is low and less fuel pressure the ecu must be scaling down in the air to fuel calculation and thus resulting in low power. if you can replace with genuine or sincr u are planing to change the car find a reconditioned one and manage for now.. all the best with the plan for the new jazz my friend. i wish you all the best of luck and stay safe.

Very good your video my friend has a 2011 Honda Fit hybrid with 35,000 km The mechanic said I don't need to replace either the spark plugs or the CVT oil.I now replace the air filter, air conditioner and oil filter. This car has never been changed spark plugs or transmission oil CVT. Do you think 40 thousand km should do all this maintenance? Thanks for listening.
@skonemotorstudio4424
@skonemotorstudio4424 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joao. thanks for your comment. looks like your friend has old beauty with a young heart still🙂. to answer your questions. you can change the cvt oil every 30 thou kms and that will make sure it will remain trouble-free for a long time. the manual says cvt oil can be changed every 40 thousand but changing it at 30 would make the gearbox last longer. also the car is now 11 years old and still low mileage but time degrades so better change the cvt oil too. Now about the spark plugs the car has 8 iridium plugs(NGK-DILFR6F 11G) in total(i-dsi engine) and the plugs should last 110-130000kms easily so tell your friend not to take anyones false advice into changing them early. and tell him iridium plugs are self cleaning so not to clean and gap then manually like old platinum plugs. otherwise they will be ruined.

Thank you very much for your reply, you are very nice. I'm sorry I said wrong, the car is mine I just bought it, I called you a friend. the spark plugs that are there, I think they are not iridium, the model is NGK LFR 6ARX 11P. I don't have a fence, but I don't think they are iridium. The mechanic said that the spark plugs are worn out, but that it would still run a little longer. I'm Brazilian and I live in Cayman island and here I'm not finding spark plugs for this car.

@@joaofeliciosalve4902 Thats all right my friend no worries... ok now reading your reply i have two issues im concern about right now. first i wonder if your mileage is genuine, i know in my country people tend to alter the odo meter to show lower mileage to trick and sell the car. i hope yours is not same. so also related to that im surprised about totally different plugs in your car! this model cant use platinum plugs they will melt at high temperature and some times damage valves also. i have seen read similar issues in my country in FB gp! group where some people have been cheated by mechanics and taken there expensive iridium plugs ans replaced them with cheap ones and also some cars been driven over 100k kms and then changed to cheaper plugs along with altered odo meter to resell by tricking the buyer. ill tell you a small thing to check , see if the rubber of your brake pedal is fully intact or rubber is worn out from one side. this one thing these tricksters forget to change after adjusting the odo meter.. anyway since you will be using this car get your plugs changed immediately. im sorry its expensive but its a must to prevent damage.. one you change to iridium you will feel the difference, in power fuel and smoothness. The plugs versions compatible with the gp1 is Denso IKH20TT or Denso VFKH20 or the genuine NGK DILFR6F 11G. one last thing check and tell me if your chassis no range is in the following range or not GP1-1200002 to GP1-1242186 GP1-8000002 to GP1-8000091 .. just check and tell me dont post your chassis no on your reply.don't post it publicly.
