It's acting like there is no fuel in the system or not getting fuel it is a little relay for the carburetor www.gophoenixclean.com

Great video: Just took mine out (Generator with GX690) and pushed the pin back in (was really stuck after only 3 months of sitting) and worked it a little, then re-installed. Started right up. Be sure to shut the fuel off under the tank first before pulling the solenoid out - you'll get a little fuel on the garage floor, but it will keep dumping out unless the fuel petcock is closed. Put a rag under the engine when you pull the solenoid free - you will get some fuel flowing out. I used a 19mm deep, thin wall socket - you'll see why a thin wall is necessary when you look into the area where the solenoid is mounted. 3/4" would work too. You'll have to move a little rubber vent hose out of the way to access the solenoid, use needle nose pliars to re-fit the breather hose. The electrical wires have to be gently moved aside also. Very easy job. I made a mental note to at least once monthly turn the key to the first detent in order to work that solenoid and prevent it gumming up again!

This worked for me thanks man! I've been down due to health reasons and was dead on my first job back, did this and fired right up

They all have it and it takes a deep hollow socket to get it off

Honda calls the part a "fuel cut-off switch." Its basically just a solenoid for the carburetor to let fuel flow into the bowl. Usually they get gunked up from bad gas and need to be cleaned with carb cleaner. Be careful when you take it out you don't lose the pieces! If your unit starts up then dies, check the rubber "vacuum" hose that goes from the carburetor to the mechanical fuel pump. This is what makes the fuel pump work. I've seen the hoses get cracked or mouse-chewed and cause the engine to start and then die intermittently. Another thing mentioned below is the low-oil shut down. The switch is on the side of the crankcase (bottom near the oil drain plug.) The switch makes contact with ground to kill the engine so make sure the wire that's attached to it isn't grounded.

Spot on fixed our issue. Thank you so much. We found a mouse nest behind the cover and it had chewed through the wire. Todd R.

Thanks for the video , got a good deal on a gx630 for my boat and it would start but ran very poorly and it wouldn’t run more than 5 sec unless I kept squeezing the primer build. $30 part and it runs like a charm

thank you for this info ...this was what was wrong with my generator..had not started it for a couple years and the gas in the carb turned to shelac and gummed up the little rod that releases the gas..after I get through this hurricane i will drain the gas and let it run dry..thanks again

Mine's a GVX630, but I'll check tomorrow to see if it has such a thing. Already dumped and cleaned tank, verified fuel lines, replaced fuel filter and fuel pump today. Still fires for a second at full choke and dies, but runs on starter fluid. Irritated.

Hell ya !! Pop it out and take plyers to it to loosen up and works now !

Hi, I had the same problem. Solenoid doesn't take "click". Now I clean it and it works fine, but I'm not sure that it should be in two pieces when I removed It.

I have a gx670 and does the same thing it's on a deere 420. It does start at times, any suggestions. I've replaced all fuel lines, filters and waiting on fuel tank filters to tear down to check these. A new carburetor has been added. I'm wondering if the person I bought it from had it sitting longer than he told me but the cost was good enough. I remove the lines from the tank and fuel comes out. The fuel pump is new also.

Good morning friend, I have a Honda GX 630 engine that explodes a lot when I accelerate fully. When I decelerate it returns to normal. What could be causing this?

I have one that is fires up then stops, it will do that again and again but just won’t keep running. If this solenoid was faulty it would prevent it from running at all wouldn’t it?

you figures yours out? about to tear into my carb. Mine runs from 2 to 30 seconds and dies.

Mine was the ignition switch in the end, was cutting power when returning to on position.

Could be your low oil safety. I’ve had mine go out and it will do the same thing. First make sure your oil is clean and topped off

Whats the name of that part? Do you have the part number? My GX660 just stop working, I have spark, fuel, oil and my fuel pump is working fine. I turn my key and the motor turn over but it won’t start. It’s like the machine is not getting fuel. I think this could be my problem.

Not sure
@selador114 жыл бұрын
Pull it. Make sure the rod moves easily. Ground the body. (NOT the rod. Leave the rod free to travel.) Apply battery power to the lead. If the rod moves, it works. Now inspect the cavity the rod goes into. Clean out any gunk or corrosion so the rod will move freely in there.

Brandon Bowen it will run until the fluid is gone. That piece regulates the flow of fuel into the Carburetor

@leemer16 жыл бұрын
No it doesn't regulate fuel flow, regulators (in fluid for example) take a higher pressure and reduce flow to maintain a lower pressure. This solenoid strictly engages or disengages to either allow flow or cut flow. Its an anti-after fire solenoid. When the engine ignition is cut the engine naturally still wants to pull fuel thru the main jet into the cylinders and out the exhaust. The plunger engages when key is off to cut fuel to the main jet preventing any further fuel to cycle thru the cylinder and into the hot exhaust. Raw fuel in the exhaust equals after fire and a small flame or pop out the exhaust. Turn key on and plunger disengages allowing fuel flow.
