my grandparents had a very similar Model, but with a more round body. I spent my childhood mowing their lawn with that machine. Was just searching for this Model and finally found it, Thanks to you ❤

They are a great mower, these were part of the Honda originals back in the late 70s early 80s, shame some of the more domestic ones nowadays have gone down hill a bit, but the pros are still imo the best mowers out there, thanks for watching 🙂👍

I "think" the reason why older machines are better, is purely because if its still running then its one of the lucky ones that have survived. Unusual looking mode3l.

Hi Reas, yes there is that, but also the build quality was in general better in them days, things were made to last, now in the main it’s a throw away world. New mowers now aren’t made to last beyond 5 years, but it isn’t just mowers it’s lots of things. You are right though these were a strange design. Thanks for watching🙂👍

Definitely Honda all the way, best mowers and engines 100%. Got a fair collection myself! Far to many really. I've got a John Deere js63 I put a Briggs Quantum on and that's pretty good starts 1'st pull ever time👍

Lol crocks as bad as my safety sliders lol nice little mower. Honda power. Would like to see an old Hayter with a Briggs so that. Yeah Briggs has gone down hill a lot. I have seen the new one just out and it’s shocking. Hope the family are all well and keeping safe

Great video , and a lovely machine. I just had my HRH serviced and I’m glad I did. Beware those cheap hour meter and RPM meters. Alright for working hours, but the revs were being well under what they actually were meaning the engine was set to rev way too high. Service man tweaked up the carb and governor and it’s running a treat. New idle jet made a big difference too.
@Menditman2014
@Menditman2014 4 жыл бұрын
Hi I don’t use them rev meters, I’ve repaired so many mowers I can more or less know the revs by ear 👂, the Honda GXV engines are by far the best Honda engines they run very nice, the cheaper Honda gcv engines are ok but don’t last as long and for some reason I’ve found the gcv 190 to be quite troublesome the 135 and 160 seem to be much better, on the 190 I’ve had valve guides slipping and also I’ve had a couple that started to burn a lot of oil. But like you said like all things they need to be checked and looked after, thanks for watching🙂👍

Super vid, Luke. Beautiful machine. Just a CB note on that grass flap - they are a bugger to change and I lost skin doing my HR21 restoration. Have a good look at the spring before you take it out....it’s under some right pressure. Thanks again.

@@Menditman2014 I like Honda as well, I own three (including this model) Honda mowers but I personally prefer Etesia Pro 46 mowers, managed to get a second hand one for £200 last year, which is an absolute bargain considering how ludicrously expensive they always are. Probably the best lawnmower I've ever used.

Luke Rogers Hi yes I rate Etesia very highly, if you watch my videos I have the Etesia Bahia ride on, good machines collects brilliantly for a 1 blade system. If a Etesia walk behind does pop up for sale cheap I will get one, as they are very very good mowers👍

Hi Greg, yep starter rope I would imagine would be a bit of a job, it really could do with one. I think the colours are standard, I’ve googled them and they all look like that. To me these have always looked more of a prototype mower, not sure if ether were then they kept the design in production🤔 Thanks for watching🙂👍

In your experience with honda mowers im thinking of moving my govener spring to the other hole on the govener arm to speed up the revs a bit, its a 2019 honda izy SKEP 18 in. Its very quiet and very slow in its standard position, i seen other gardeners on youtube that move the spring and it makes a difference to power and noise but i dontnwant to damage the engine if its running to fast? Great vid of a classic honda☆☆☆☆

@Menditman2014 4 жыл бұрын
Hi you should be fine moving the spring to the other hole, as long as your oils where it should be I can’t see a problem. I do believe that’s what the other hole is intended for to up the performance a little. Thanks for your support and watching much appreciated 🙂👍

Brian Connor Hi I haven’t ever really run an izy for work, but I’ve had and sold a few, I don’t like how they run so slow from factory, so the ones I’ve had I have moved the spring to make them run faster, hope this this helps.thanks.

Hi as you probably know Hondas are my number one mower of choice, your right some models are made a bit on the cheap side nowadays, but the pro range have still kept there quality. On this one it’s an aluminium deck, most of the old ones were, that’s what the main problem was with the old ones they got thin and got holes in the deck, this one is very very good no damage at all. How are you getting on in this lockdown doing much? We’ve been out and staying safe we are lucky to have the job we have atm. Thank for watching🙂👍

lol if the decks lasted as long as the engines it would be asking to much. pleased to hear your still putting a crust on the table, same at this end nothing changed just a little frustrating with my really old clients when trying to stick to social distancing . hang in there mate.

Honda engines are still some of the best, I wish Honda made a GXV200 engine as the GXV160 on its commercial mowers is lacking in power when compared to the GCV190 and the newer GCV200. The GCV190 isn't a bad little engine, not as good as say a GSV190 which is a GCV190 with a cast iron cylinder sleeve and some reinforcement for the commercial market. Briggs, to me, has always been a fair to mediocre engine to me and in recent years, yes, it has gone down hill quite a bit. I'm not even a fan of Vanguard but for the price of a Honda you could buy a Vanguard with some change and it has some decent features like the engine shutoff is also linked to the fuel shutoff. Briggs would lead you to believe that their engine is the first to have this but Honda has been using it on the GX100 and GXR200 for years inside its EU2000i and EU2200is inverter generators as well as units even further before that. Briggs tends to care more about marketing and buzzword style trademarks and names like John Deere when you see companies like Kubota and Honda not trying to sell you smoke and mirrors. I find it funny that Honda abandoned that handle setup but Stihl uses it on its mowers now.
