This is how i changed the oil and filter on my in-laws 2017 Honda Jazz or Honda Fit in the US.

Great video, thanks, I've been driving and maintaining cars for over 50 years but it is still helpful to see a video like this when doing an oil and filter change for the first time on my early 2017 Jazz. In case this helps anyone the two rear fasteners on my car (pop out on the video as shown) are different on my car. They have a (machine) screw that causes the fastener to spread instead of the pin as seen in the video, no big deal but might just help someone. The recommended 0W20 oil is almost water thin and nearly colourless making it quite tricky to see on the 'orange' blob on the dipstick, Does anyone know what the volume difference is between the high and low marks on the dipstick, Honda have decided to keep it a secret and there is nothing in the manual about it, where most manuals I have seen state clearly that it is (for example) 1 litre between the high and low marks. 👍👍

Thanks for the positive feedback 👍 I’m sorry to say it’s one of the great unexplained mysteries of the world - how to not break the clips 😂😂 I think they just get brittle over time.

Just a thought, does it matter if you use 5w30 instead of 0w16?

@@gilberesrepairsthe owners manual says 0w 20 for the Honda Jazz 1.4 I vtec buddy. It seems that many mechanics don’t even realise this or can’t be bothered to check.

@@thegovnor1671Thanks for the input. I think the oil viscosity changes in the owners manual depending on the market it’s sold. The Alaskan market is probably different Saudi market. Always follow the manual provided with your car 👍

For a 2016-2019 series Jazz the recommended oil in the UK is 0W-20 (Honda part no. 08232P99K4LHE). This gives maximum fuel economy, but the manual says that you can use the cheaper 0W-30 and 5W-30 grades if this is not available. Modern engines are made to fine tolerances and I guess the thinness of 0W-20 grade helps to get the oil to where it is needed. For a newish car I would stick to 0W-20 but for an older car it probably doesn't matter so much.

Hello… I don’t fill the filters with oil prior to fitting, but i’m sure there’s plenty of people out there that say you should. There are many cars that you just can’t fill the filters because they are mounted upside down. Excellent question btw 👍
