I purchased a 2017 Accord EX-L V-6 w/manual transmission new back in April of '17. I wanted the V-6 since they were retiring it in the Accords, and a manual was a must. I also wanted the last year of the ninth generation as I felt by that time they had a good chance to work out all the bugs. That transmission feels rock-solid, almost like a good truck trans. Fun car to drive.

@@dontrend5956 The only reason is because people can't play with their phone if they have to shift gears themselves. The plan is to have everyone so addicted to their phones, while driving, that they will jump at the chance to have an auto-driving car the moment they are available (like classic lemmings). 57 years old and have only had 1 automatic and that was because it's a 1980 Firebird all-original (no manual transmissions for Firebird that year).

Like Scotty, I am an auto tech with many years of experience. I buy cars based upon cost, ease of maintaining them, and how they feel to drive. So my 2002 Accord suits me perfectly. I buy my motorcycles and track cars for fun, so that is a whole different story.
@davidacave
@davidacave 4 жыл бұрын
@@crowttubebot3075 Yes, I had a 2006 Honda Accord. I regret selling it.Scotty did a video where he talked about the k20 engine. That engine is legendary now. I had problems with the power steering pump and steering rack, but it was still drivable. The engine itself never gave any problems. And despite not having a turbo, I find that it has more oomph than an Audi A4. Sure, the A4 looks fancier, but for utility, power the Accord was better. I also liked that even though the cars I get are for the European market with the smaller engines, most of the parts for the American Honda Accord fitted ok and worked fine. Beautiful car. I haven't tried out a Toyota Camry or Avalon, but the Honda Accord is hard to beat.
@davidacave
@davidacave 4 жыл бұрын
I think that this Honda Accord that Scotty is featuring in this video is supposed to be the last of the great Accords. From 2012 they simplified the front suspension. The new ones also come with the turbocharged gdi engine, so I don't know how the oil dilution problem is, or if it is still existent. Still, as far as cars go, the 2011 Accord, 2012 CRV and the 2012 Toyota Rav 4 are amazing choices. Any one of those could last you 5 to 6 years with minor repairs and maintenance.
@crowttubebot3075
@crowttubebot3075 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidacave 5 to 6? I keep cars much longer than that. But, as an auto tech, I also do my own work on them, so I buy for reliability and ease of repairing them. I drove my 1993 Escort from 2004 to 2013. I would still have it, but I bought this Accord from a family member when she wanted to get a new car. Since I had done all the maintenance on it since nearly new, I could not pass it up.

If your oxygen sensor is not working properly, perhaps the engine is running too rich or even too lean and putting off the bad smells because of that? Possibly replacing that sensor would help? I’m not sure though. Other than that, I can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.

Many people don't realize that the Accord was the car with the most American or Japanese parts and labor, designed with major input from Honda of America, and made here in the USA in Ohio, at a non-union plant... And look at how well the cars all hold up! "American" car brands often outsource parts and some pre-assembly to China, etc., not to mention generally inferior design.

Gave our daughter our 08 Accord. Had to have a VTC actuator at 65,000 (warranty) and Honda went half on the piston and ring job that plagued Accords and Camrys of that year. At 165,000 miles it looks and drives like new. Transmission is butter smooth.

Scotty you won’t believe that I bought a 2012 Honda Accord yesterday! I made my decision based on what you’ve said in the past about Hondas and I’m glad I saw this video today! It’s almost like I got your seal of approval.

8th Gen, 2008-2012, both engines are strong----but I decided the handling was sporty enough to justify going with the more powerful V6-----it really turns a family sedan into a near sport sedan. Fun to drive and the horsepower/transmission combo is perfect.

Craigslist for cars. I always see good deals on there. Just bring someone that knows about cars if you don't when you go to see/test drive it. Plenty of reliable Hondas for under 4k

Thanks Scotty, 4 years ago i bought this car and it’s never let me down. I just put an anti roll bar on the rear and it highly improves the handling. If you have this car do that. And if you don’t get a Honda accord!

I have a Honda Accord 2007 Euro (Acura TSX), best car I ever bought, I’m loathe to move on, but when I do, I’ll get the next generation, brilliant cars for what I need. Nice one Scotty. I wish more people in the UK would watch videos like this, they might not buy as many Audi, BMWs and Mercs and save themselves a whole lot of issues.
