i have the 700 no abs , manual im a mechanic i can tell you this bike is built as an all around bike that fits many pockets... meaning ... it has just the mechanics that are needed to be reliable ergonomic and economic hence the single front rotor, single exhaust and the engine is mounted allmost horizontally not only for cog its also mounted that way because it can be easily serviced.... japanese have had these in mind... low cost low maintainance bulletproof engine 6500 rpm undersquared with lots of torque high quality built and as you pointed not for showoff... gets you anywhere allways low profile....

Turning lights shouldn't be activated by mistake. The split second you need to confirm the action ensures you don't activate by mistake.

It's so good to see an unbiased review! I'm tossing up between the NC750, CB500F and CBR500RA. I like higher touring handles of this bike. I prefer the larger tank of the RA and look. I think value wise, this seems a good option bike!

I have the 2016 Honda NC700X DCT & absolutely love it !! Technically has all the features yours has - 50cc in the Engine. What are you do to avoid scratching the consul is our use a hiker Style key chain & only have the key in the ignition with a small size stainless steel key ring. This reduces the clutter issue your dealing with. Also I’ve never been bothered by the turn signal issues your referring to. I’ve never put focus on the MPG or odometer but obviously that something that you focus on. This is my second NC700X DCT. originally I purchased the 2014 model than saw all the new updates Honda did to the 2016 & traded in my original bike for the newer model. You have a beautiful Motorcycle I hope you love it. Sounds like Honda finally discontinued the NC700X DCT in 2017 for the US market 😩

If you accidently swipe the turning light's switch and they turn on, you might not realize that they are on and that puts you in a dangerous position. I think this is the case with the intentional long press turning lights. Have I nice rides and be safe! :)

Thanks for the review. You surprised me with your tyre wear. I only got 7,600km from my set. Both tyres were nearly bald at that! And I'm not normally hard on tyres. Maybe there are different quality variants of the same tyre being fitted for different markets.

Mine's a dct and only does 105mph max slightly downhill is that normal?

After 87k miles on the US sister the 2012 NC700.. I’d say you do a good review. I use an “air hawk “ seat pad on my trips which the longest was 10k miles in 21 days. My chain has been my weak point lasting about 12-16 k miles according to maintenance and road conditions. I put front fender extender on the front to protect my radiator. I have travel hard bags which I usually keep on the bike for convenience. The refill is annoying but only when I’m camping. Maintenance is pretty easy. The only issues so far are chains, and wheel bearings . It’s been a good bike. I ride with guys with 150hp bikes and the straight roads they makes me wish I had more power but my fuel economy makes m smile. I do usually run out of fuel first while riding with other tour bikes but not by much , I usually go 200-250 miles/tank according to speed.

The button for the indicators is made like that incase you catch the button by mistake, it needs a controlled push. Also if your having to do it that quickly you wont be giving other drivers enough reaction time, you should do these things methodically and safely.

14 L x 28= 392 KM. Not bad. My motorscooters like the Burgman needed refueling after 200 km...and they needed 15L. So what is the problem?

Coming from a VFR800 6th Gen, I'm struggling with finding its character although it has many good things going for it namely, maintenance costs and fuel efficiency. Perhaps I should take it for a ride and get a real feel for it.

Hey my NC friend... The Display and Trip Information Starts to flashing "000" when the Tank comes to the Reserve !!! If you refill Petrol (Gas) and you Start the Bike all informations are Back !!! Your Informations are Safe Till you Reset by self.

Regarding the turn signal activation: I think it's intentional that it doesn't activate very quickly. You need to be deliberate. This prevents accidental activation so that you don't look like you're going to turn when you've no intention of turning. It's less likely that someone will pull out in front of you, thinking that you're going to turn. The fuel tank filler is VERY inconvenient, being under the seat, if you're carrying luggage. It's the one feature that would prevent me from buying this bike.

Thanks for posting your review, it looks like you are having an interesting time with your NC. I am lucky that I do not have the same problem with the indicator but I did notice the rear brake light moves around a bit. The NC has had such a varied reception from the bike community but I am not sure who could possibly hate this bike? The price, running costs, utility and looks seem to put it in a class of 1 in my humble opinion. Any new riders out there can do a lot worse than the NC750X as it is a very friendly bike. Nice video, I have the same bike, but DCT model, very easy to ride. Same points than you noticed. I did 17500km with my first tires, now i put the michelin pilot road 4 that are very good in the rain. i have now 25000km and i feel i will have to change the chain in a few thousand km. Very good bike !

Good review! I think with the blinkers they are designed like that so they don't activate in case they are accidentally bumped or knocked. But I do understand how that can be annoying when you want to make a quick lane change or something.

I agree with you about the front brakes. Honda should have put on twin rotors in front. Some times it just doesn’t slow down quick enough.

excellent review, I have on mine (previous model) over 25k km and couldn't agree more on most of your comments. On mine though trip data is not reset, just display starts to blink and trip data is not showed. Annoying I agree. You can though switch back to trip data and view it after refueling. My biggest complain is suspension, very basic and damping is minimal.

Nice review :) About reaching the petrol reserve - are you sure all the numbers are resetting? I noticed that when I hit the reserve, the display goes zero and starts going up, probably so you know how much of the 2.9 L of the reserve you used, but after the refill everything goes back to normal, including the counters

Not sure if this review makes sense hey, Please do explain if am I missing something.. On 3,28 talks that he did 3L a 100 Kilometres. The tank of this bike is 14,1. At 13 mnts he commented that "its annoying that he has to refuel the tank every 300 kilometres". So acording to his first comment this bike should do 450 Kilometres when tank is full... ANY COMMENTS PLEASE?

Nice review, thank you! Did you also consider to buy the S rather than the X model and if so, why did you choose the X? I drove the S very recently because I am looking for an uncomplicated, easy-to-use commuter bike. I liked it a lot and I think it is perfect for the job, especially around town. However, I find the X interesting too, so I am just curious about your reasoning to get the X.

Não deves usar muito peso na ignição, procura manter-te a uma só chave e usar dois set's, é o que faço, e never go back :) Isso dos piscas é de facto um defeito, e a buzina mais cedo ou mais tarde vai sofrer de mau contacto.

That single rotor up front is putting me off buying one. I'm thinking the power must be very lacking if they only put one disc on it, with only 2 pistons. My 550cc bike has two front discs, and it's 200cc lower than this. The BHP is around the same, which I find confusing. My AK550 isn't even high revving.

The blinkers issue is intentional I guess. It's a type of hysteresis to avoid accidental activation I guess

A pretty good review but I'll say a little patience goes a long way. Griping because the blinker doesn't come on with a nano-second long flip? Really? It was no doubt designed like, as it is on most every bike I've owned and now own, so that an accidental bump doesn't turn your signals on unintentionally.

Last year I purchased a Black Norton 961 and Silver Honda NC750X. Both have now covered 4000km. The Norton is great looking and is brilliant to ride but has no stowage spaces for any gear and struggles to cover more than 200km between fuel fills. It also lacks a main stand which makes checking the tyres, chains and oil level awkward. The Honda was a 3rd of the price and is an excellent all-rounder. Mine has ABS, a Honda top box, heated grips, is comfortable, handles and rides fine and a full tank of fuel will take me 300km. The Honda negatives..........the electronic speedo is a pain to use on the move. It has nice big digits but trying to display trip mileage, range or even the time while on the move is asking for an accident. The Norton has a single button which scrolls thru total mileage, trip mileage, battery status and time. Simple and safer. The Honda wind screen keeps the rain off but causes wind buffeting. The seat height is spot on but the passenger hump tends to catch my foot when mounting the bike. The LED lights might save power but only illuminate small sections of road with either beam. The Norton easily wins here as well. The Honda front tyre is down to 2.5mm of tread already. The only way it is going to make 10,000km is if I start to push the bike a lot.

the "fast blinker" thing is made on purpose..."fast blinking" on newer Honda bikes is meant to turn the blinker Off, instead of setting it On...so you set it on, and "fast sweep" it to turn it off...its on the manual...

Have your other keys on your pocket, problem solved. I think your issue with the indicators is irrelevant, I think the single brake disc is good as it saves weight. Fuel tank filler is definitely a pain. I like the incline engine which gives a low centre of gravity. For me I’d be looking at a suspension change and wire wheels with Mita E07 tyres to make it more off road oriented. Plus I’d change the exhaust to a lighter one with possible raising it’s height for off reading a gain. Just a note it’s light off road I’m referring too.

You don't have enough breaking power on the front maybe because the bike uses 75%-25% ratio on front/back wheels. So in order to have all 100% breaking power on the front, you have to use also the full pedal and only in this combined way you will get all the brake force in the front.

You right..bad ideea with the fuel tank for long trip...

You only need the ignition key in the ignition. Heavy sets of keys will destroy the ignition barrel.

Why don’t you use trip B for your journey

Seems like a good review but why are all the people in the comments commenting on a small fuel tank?? The fuel tank is plenty big enough and the bike gets great gas milage for what the bike was meant for. If you want a bigger fuel tank then go buy a touring bike.

Why aren't we getting this in the USA??

On my NX750X DCT 2016 the indicator switch is not exact buttery smooth either. Worse is the fact that Honda always switches this one with the horn. After more than two years this still feels unnatural. As does the position of the light switch, on top of the left cluster instead of behind: giving a signal can't be done without looking at it first. With the manual + gear switch the usual location for the signalling switch was occupied... A third issue with switches concerns the extra lights from the Adventure Pack. This switch is located deep within the fairing (behind the ignition key) and only gets illuminated when activated. The extra light are perfect though, as is the total lighting on this bike! The fuel tank should have been a bit bigger, my usual range is 360 km with an average fuel consumption of 1 liter per 27 km. The access to the tank is fine with me as I reduced my camping gear to fit in the top box, frunk and 10 liter Givi "tank bag". This setup also keeps the width limited. The seat is sloping too much forward but that was easily fixed. The stock wind shield is not bad, but the Puig aftermarket shield including an extra deflector works super for me (1.87 m tall). I can't stress enough the importance of reducing the noise of turbulance. All in all a very comfortable touring bike, also thanks to the DCT. This gearbox keeps you away of the rev limiter and works perfect, also in the Alps. It's a shame that the bike has gone up in price considerably.

I agree about the key. I just use a single key for the motorcycle and put all the others in my pocket.

You can deactivate the reset option if you don't want to lose trip A data, it's a feature
